Re: ThirdWire WWII Add-Ons

Well worth a try, and they provide an alternative to the Battle of Britain, although these add-ons would be in a lesser league than BoBII.

ThirdWire WWII Add-Ons

Hello all. Recently discovered two quite good add-ons to the ThirdWire title 'Wings Over Europe', called respectively, Wings Over Russia, and Wings Over Africa, both free to download at the 'Capun' site. As one might partly guess, they are based on the Russian and North African fronts in WWII, with ...

Re: Weaker PC Question

Well, I have tried a few other IA missions with the 2.12 exe-seems to work fine. I presume it introduces new ai behaviour, though I wouldn't be sharp enough to notice?

Re: Weaker PC Question

Right Buddye, I'll have a go and report back. Have already tried Random Advantage Dogfight in my Spit and 'End of the Defiant' in a 109, using the 2.12 exe in my 2.09 install and while loading is still quite quick, nothing untoward seems to be happening, no smoke or steam coming out of my pc, and se...

Re: Weaker PC Question

Thanks PV, selective use of the executible and flight model files sounds worth a try. Could even try it with 2.11 on my current 2.09 install (with appropriate backing-up, of course!).

Weaker PC Question

Hello all. Like everyone else, I'm sure, I am eagerly anticipating the new AI modifications in the upcoming 2.12 patch. However I recently had to revert to 2.09 from 2.11 on my pc, as my loading-time had become excessive, and of course, it will be moreso with 2.12. Would it be possible to make a sta...

Re: Extremely slow loading times

Great that the AI is top-notch in 2.09, because the game is now loading speedily for me again. Thanks for all your help Buddye, you're great.

Re: Extremely slow loading times

Thanks Buddye for the prompt reply. May be what I'll have to do, sadly. Will I lose anything in terms of AI if I go back to 2.09, as that is the 'cat's pyjamas' of this game for me?

Extremely slow loading times

Hello all, I have found in the last few months I'm getting very slow loading times, to the extent that I have almost stopped playing this greatest of flight sims-just easier to play the somewhat inferior (but still quite good) Il-2. I have multi-skin off, disabled my antivirus, tried several reinsta...

Re: ForceFeedBack and fps

Withnail, options/controls/custom will reveal the 4 ff options at the bottom of your screen. Try this link for a choice of drivers you can experiment with: http://www.speedlink.com/?p=2&cat=313&pid=1533&paus=1 Should bring up the 3 drivers available. Blaugrana, try options/controls/custo...

Re: ForceFeedBack and fps

Withnail, I used an older driver from Speedlink, I think I had to google it, which improved my fps. To be honest, don't find the feedback in the Black Widow very compatible with BoBII, works better with other sims for me. Have you tried ticking only two of the ffb options?

Re: COD all that's it was cracked up to be?

My 9800gt fell on it's sword last night, and I had to revert to my old 8600gt (never throw anything out, you never know when it might come in useful) and WoP is still running smoothly as ever. Of course, it'll never be in the same league as BoBII, which is about as real as a game on a pc can get, bu...

Re: COD all that's it was cracked up to be?

Welcome back Stalker :) . Slightly on a tangent, has anyone here tried WoP? It's dirt cheap at the moment, and now they're announcing an impending mission editor, which wasn't supposed to be possible. Now WoP has a lot of limitations, but it does offer the option of combat in gorgeous graphics, grea...

Re: Which Joystick?

Withnail, I use that stick also, and it is very good. It has a seperate throttle with the rudder attached to the top of it. FFB is not great, more a force-vibration job, but it's great value overall. Sturdy too.

Re: Beginning of the end, or end of the beginning?

If one's interest is in offline flying, which is likely if you use BoBII, I would expect to be underwhelmed somewhat by the AI in SOW/COD. If it is anything like Il-2:1946, it will be a pig's ear cod of a thing! I fly Il-2 off-line, but it is only tolerable because of the ai mods, and is still, with...
