Re: New sound card
Ah, that must be the ADI_OAL.dll issue I remember from a while back. Thanks for the info, Scott - I'll try that. I've always been leery of onboard sound because of my picky ears - I always figured they put onboard sound on there for people who just needed an office computer, and just for system soun...

New sound card
Hello, fellow A2A addicts; It's that time for me - time for a new rig. The only thing I'm puzzled on is which sound card to get. I loved and had no previous problems with my trusty Creative Audigy 2 ZS, but the the Razorback and Stratocruiser make it pop and crackle like nobody's business. Sound car...

Re: Startup in training film
Thanks for the great info, Dudley! So, if I understand correctly, doing the prime while ICO, then bringing in the main fuel system at fuel pump pressure is better than prime and start while in full rich. Thusly by priming and starting while in full rich the main fuel system wouldn't be up to fuel pu...

Startup in training film
Allright, mates, so I was engaging in another favorite hobby, watching aircraft training films, and I saw the P-47 pilot was instructed to put the engine in idle cut-off, then prime the engine, energize the inertial starter for 15 secs max and then engage it. Once it turned over, he then put the mix...

Re: Thank you, A2A, for not assuming that we're all thieves!
I heartily agree, and is the prime reason why I boycott certain websites. (And sadly so, because one of my other favrotie developers turns out some really primo work on airliners.) My laptop hard drive crashed, and then I went to install an add-on onto my PC when I had finally built it... Noooooope,...

Re: Why a particular engine order?
Top shelf to all replies! Certainly given me quite a great deal for thought. I suppose if I was starting engines considering passenger safety, I'd want to start #4 first after an announcement "Alright, ladies and gentlemen, if it doesn't explode this time, we'll be taking off soon..." and ...

Why a particular engine order?
I'm watching a YouTube documentary on our Stratocruiser (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2Waf72ajvY) and the FE says "Starting Engine 3." This makes me realize that the B-17's start procedure begins with engine 3 as well. Why do we do this, start with 3 first and then have a specific order...

Engine overhaul vs. repairing items in red.
What differences are there between hitting the "Overhaul" button and just repairing all items highlighted in red?

Re: Water-Cooled or Glycol-Cooled ?
Question -- how does one try to come to an early stop especially when that big tree, etc., coming up real quick? And all the while keeping a little thrott on to avoid fouling plug, while tapping like crazy on the brake and trying not to tip over?? Keep the stick/yoke full back during all ground ope...

PS the coolant boilover vent works - I was a dupek last night and let the darned thing overheat while taxiing - GREAT effect! I promise to watch my temps better. Maybe I should've switched to summer oil...
