Re: flight planning: wind, flight level, route , fuel, time optimum
By the way: I think the weather and winds aloft forecast of the 40's and 50's must have been much (!) weaker than today. A relatively thin network of balloon sondes, especially over oceans. Maybe the main source were reports from other aircraft which calculated winds aloft "on the run" and in a tigh...

Re: flight planning: wind, flight level, route , fuel, time optimum
Thanks for your fast responses. @ Paughco: Yes, I alway use skyvector for flight planning and know the wind options. There I get my wind data mentioned above from. But as far as I understand skyvector has only the aircraft performance for one given cruise profile (in my case for FL240) and does use ...

Re: getting sunrise and sunset times fronm FSX
Thanks for your fast replies.
But I don't need the rw times but the (quite unrealistic) FSX SR and SS times. They're there and the question is if there's a FSX file to get the info from or an external software to read out the corresponding files.

getting sunrise and sunset times fronm FSX
Hey guys,
any idea how to read out the sunrise and sunset times for a given location and day in FSX?
Thanks in advance,
Zacke

flight planning: wind, flight level, route , fuel, time optimum
Hey guys, I know one could calculate the best flight level or best (alternate) route with given winds aloft, gross weights, performance data and maybe step climb calculations. But in the 40s and 50s did they really calculate that things down to the last numbers or where there some rules of thumb to ...

Re: Do pax on board trigger career mode?
Hi and thanks for your fast reply. So did I get that right: If I shut off the career mode via shift-3 my career is on standby and does continue when I switch it back on later with the exact same state? But are then occasional failures to the technical systems still active if career mode's off? Are t...

Do pax on board trigger career mode?
Hey guys, I decided to pull out the wonderfull Connie for a new and longlasting career. ;) I have one question: When I want to do some system ground tests and maybe some training or ferry flights without passengers (eventually with some cargo) do they absolutely not affect my career (but the system ...

Re: Should I buy this?
Hey guys, I have both the 377 and the Connie. But since the Connie's out I only flew here exclusively. Has the 377 undergone some updates with the release of the Connie COTS? I love the Connie very much because of her advanced flight modelling (no rails!), the shaking engine instruments and for sure...

autopilot and elevator trim
Hey guys, I have a question concerning the interaction of elevator trim an the elev channel of autopilot. After T/O with elev trim set to 5° up I go into climb phase and want to switch on the elevator channel of the autopilot. At this point I don't have a neutral elev trim setting for sure. No probl...

does the Connie simulate the engine cool down while PC's off?
Hello guys,
see subject. I've flown her some time ago but reset my FS and didn't reinstall the Connie yet. I can't remember if she simulates the cool down of oil and CHT while the sim is off like the GAs and the warbirds.
Thanks in advance,
Zacke

A2A P40 and Firefighter X
Hey guys, anybody out there using Lorby's Firefighter X with an A2A aircraft? I thought it would be cool cruising along with the P40 searching for fires and eventually fighting them. But I'm curios if the Firefighter X engine does mesh with the A2A flight model (and failure model). Firefighter X inf...

Re: two oil questions
Thanks guys! So let me summarize that one: Topping up the oil via the load manager does mix old and new oil contents/qualities but does not supersede an complete oil change in the long term. Changing oil type in the hangar does replace the existing oil content/volume with new oil but does not top it...

Re: two oil questions
Thanks for your response, Rob. I know about the option to choose different oil types. But my questions is how to exchange to complete existing oil volume for refreshing the whole oil volume with the same grade. With the Accu Sim GA planes you do that by emptying the oil tank via the load manager but...

Re: two oil questions
And another thing: To do an oil change do I have to enter the hangar and use the oil option menu in the engine section. Or does a click in the shift-4-menu also change the oil (or does it only refill and mix it)? Thanks! Yes you have to go into the maintenance hangar to change the oil. The Bonanza ...
