Re: GPU

@ Artur: For sure it would be more realistic to charge or support the battery in real time. But in some situations it's sim-wise a good thing to have an option to quick-load your battery. Accu-Sim can be ultra realistic simming option AND/OR a learning tool. @ tgycgijoes: Try it but I don't think it...

Re: Engine not starting

No, it isn't. Stay tuned to it and you will learn how to do it. The civ P-51 is a very satisfying machine if you know how to handle it. Which of the other Accu-Sim aircraft did you fly so far? Could some of the experts reading this one come in and give a comment if the P-51 differs technically betwe...

Re: Engine not starting

The magnetos don't need electrical power (your car's engine will run even if you disconnect the battery). The ammeter comes to life at about 1300 rpm when the generator begins to produce electrical power (and generator switch is on). At 1500 rpm and above it can deliver full power. I even checked th...

Re: Engine not starting

YOU ARE FLOODING THE ENGINE, as I said before. 10s primer is too much. Leave the mixture on shutoff, give her just two or three seconds of prime. Engage the starter, switch on magnetos, watch if she catches. If not, give her another short shot of prime, to it gradually. If she fires switch the mixtu...

Re: rpm fluctuations

Thanks!

Is it caused by the vibrations or by gauge internal physics?

Re: oddities with the electrical system

Thanks for the clarification, Scott. Overall very good news!

Compared the the direct crank starters are the inertia starters even at risk to to overheat and do they wear slower overall? How is that modelled with Accu-Sim?

rpm fluctuations

Hey guys,

the rpm fluctuations (most noticeable with the P-40 when idling cold): Does actually the engine oscillate that much or is it just the gauge?

Regards,

Re: Engine not starting

Could you post a video?

What are temperatures when you're talking of "stone cold"?

Re: Engine not starting

I'm not an expert concerning the different updates or the A2A evolution but you shouldn't run the A2A planes without the latest update. There's good reason for the updates and in general the planes getting even more detailed or balanced with every of the updates. It's possible the starting behaviour...

Re: Engine not starting

When engine's hot I don't prime before engaging the starter. I just give her shot after mags on when she actually needs one (not firing reliable).

I think you're flooding her.

Re: Engine not starting

There's a good chance you're flooding it. I crack the throttle just a little bit (from the standard eye point just seeing the "A" of "DEACREASE"). Fuel shutoff opened, electric fuel pump on, with cold engine priming just a second or two. Engaging starter, after six blades mags on and doing some shor...

Re: GPU

Then go to the hangar (shift-7). If your battery was weak or dead they charge them up there.

Re: oddities with the electrical system

Thanks a lot for coming back with this, Scott! Good to hear there's nothing wrong with the "simulated wiring" (except the ammeter  ). But is it actually realistic the battery keeps the starter running an hour with the other consumers mentioned online? I thought the battery should be much weake...

Re: GPU

As far as I know the modern civil version has a much more capable battery and doesn't really need a gpu.
