Re: Propeller Governor Logic.
CAP, I don't know for sure, but that sounds like a 'feather' detent in the prop levers. When I flew the PA-44 Seminole, we had no feathering switches, only a feathering range at the bottom of the RPM lever (we also had no feathering pump). You mentioned that they "pulled the lever back and held...

Re: Propeller Governor Logic.
Yup, When I was researching the Curtiss Electric propellers, I found an article describing the function of the hubs and governors. It does state they the blade pitch can be directly controlled by bypassing the governor entirely. ...whereas an electric prop is built so that it is more locked in place...

Re: Supercharger output seems inconsistant
Also, FSX does not have a "default" prop pitch animation. It has to be coded as part of a gauge and thus its movement is based on the programmer's design not FSX. Most of the models where you see the prop moving incorrectly is because the gauge the designer used simply reads the prop pitc...

Re: Propeller Governor Logic.
Just checked the Feathering of the Constellation, it appears to work as intended. Here's some online resources talking about some of the function of Hydromatic Propellers http://aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pdf/13-07569.pdf http://www.enginehistory.org/Propellers/HamStd/hamstd.shtml http://okigihan.bl...

Propeller Governor Logic.
Hi all, this is a continuation of the " Supercharger output seems inconsistent ," thread. However, we've moved to the subject of propeller governors so I thought this should warrant a new thread. Its important to highlight again that, The engines in the Connie (and 377) us the Microsoft bu...

The engines in the Connie (and 377) us the Microsoft built-in tech that includes the superchargers. You can see the difference of this depth in the maintenance hangar. Scott. Thank you for your answer Scott, What you've described is what I experienced with the 'supercharger' behavior. It's barely f...

Re: Mixture Settings: No Full Rich/Manual Lean?
A personal anecdote to your, 'different panels for different operators' discussion. Sitting at the terminal in DCA we watched as the ground crew towed our aircraft (covered in 2" of snow) up to the jet bride. They deiced the aircraft before letting the crew on. As soon as we entered the cockpit...

Re: Supercharger output seems inconsistant
Thanks for the reply CAPFlyer, which this airplane is based off of gives literally ONE RPM for each altitude and ONE BMEP setting. Thanks for the clarification. I only mentioned the "choice of cruise RPM," to highlight the relationship of supercharger output to RPM. As you said, that's mor...

Mixture Settings: No Full Rich/Manual Lean?
Does the real L-49 not have full rich and manual leaning ranges in the mixture, like the B-377? I would imagine these are standard ranges/positions for these types of engines. Do we have a simplified version of mixture management?

Re: Supercharger output seems inconsistant
My 2 cents worth.... based on why the supercharger will not enable space travel in the connie.... I'm going to completely disagree with your post, please don't take it in a negative light. Starting with this first statement. We are not expecting "space travel" performance from the constel...

Same, I deselect it on the Shift-2 menu every flight. Also, I cannot permanently remove the GPS using the 'No GPS' option in the minicontrols. It shows up again every new flight.

Re: Supercharger output seems inconsistant
This really is a issue that needs to be addressed IMHO, and I hope we can get some response from the developers. There is a certain **coughcough** freeware version of the L-049 that has variable supercharger output based on engine RPM. IMO this is a realistic feature, as the supercharger is driven b...

Type "game controllers" into the search bar in the start menu. A dialog should give you the option of selecting all your various joysticks/controllers. Choose the one which you're having a problem with, and select "properties." Does this window recognize all your buttons and axis...
