Re: Correct use of the heater

I've never used an engine heater in the sim, or in real life, so my response is an educated guess (hopefully! oh the joys of SoCal flying). Pre-heater use should be temperature dependent, not time dependent. Your goal is to get the oil temperature up, and viscosity down to a point where it will circ...

Re: Full throttle needed for startup?

Hi all,

Just want to let you know this was indeed the cause. I just started the engine with a cracked throttle at 80F. I primed only enough to move the FF needle.

Thank you for the help.

Re: Listening to the oil drops after shutdown

One of the best Accusim experiences I can remember is when my P-51D had an induction leak at the supercharger. I could really hear the supercharger wheel wailing under torque, with a faint whistle as the compressed air was escaping through the leak. I never wanted to get that leaky supercharger fixe...

Re: Full throttle needed for startup?

Thank you guys for the advice, it sounds plausable. I am on a trip right now and will have to try it when I get back.

Full throttle needed for startup?

Since the 5_9_16 update, can anybody do a manual start of the C172 with the throttle in any position other than full open? My current procedure which is successful is this: -Engine priming as per usual procedure. -Mixture Idle Cutoff -Throttle full open -Ignition to Start -Mixture Full Rich on start...

Re: Manual Hydraulic Pump Problem

Hi Cliff,

I have the B-17 installed on regular FSX:A with Windows 10 and am unable to reproduce your problem. I tried giving control of the cowl flaps (hydraulic) to the FE and still couldn't reproduce it.

Hope this helps.

I do. I've noticed that the engine is a lot less 'fussy' since the Texan release. I've also noticed that when I prime the engine before start the fuel pump now increases pressure all the way into the green range.

Re: cold oil pressure, 500 RPM idle, startup experience.

Hello! A quick update on my concerns since 5_1_2016. No changes to the oil pressure situation. It's no longer necessary to carefully warm up the oil to reduce high pressure before starting taxi. Cold oil is no longer a hazard to the Packard Merlin. As other replies have mentioned, this appears to be...

Re: cold oil pressure, 500 RPM idle, startup experience.

If you are using real weather, the ambient temp affects how thick the oil is. If it's very cold then oil pressure will be higher, and if it's warm out then pressure will be lower. Thank you, In my video the oil temp is 15C with "Clear Skies (Clears all weather)" profile selected. No real weather is...

Re: cold oil pressure, 500 RPM idle, startup experience.

Thank you for the reply Scott, My issue is that I cannot get the mustang to experience the high oil pressure phenomenon that you have described unless I demand 2500 RPM and 40" MAP. Before 3_27_2016 this feature was working normally, and care had to be taken to keep the engine idling before the temp...

Re: cold oil pressure, 500 RPM idle, startup experience.

Bump with the latest 4_16_2-16 update.

No changes.. problems still exist. I have reinstalled the Mustang with Accusim and have had no luck.

Here is my first ever youtube upload to show the problem.

cold oil pressure, 500 RPM idle, startup experience.

Hey guys, Love the work you're doing, and the regular updates to this hot rod! Unfortunately my Mustang has been under the weather since the Accusim updates released with the T-6. First squawk: Upon manually starting a cold and dark aircraft, oil pressure immediately stabilizes in the green range. A...

Audio Control Panel and Monitoring second COM

Hey guys, love the aircraft! I'm a IRL pilot with hundreds of hours in 172's both as a pilot and instructor (it's been 1.5 years so I'm rusty). The first time I started it I was seriously freaked out by how realistic it is, especially those wonderful sounds! Anyways onto the problem. I have time in ...
