Re: New monster PC for FlightSim

Your System looks great and I respect your decision to go with Nvidia. It’s a tough decision I agree. Are you planning on overclocking with your unlocked “k” processor because if you’re not, don’t waste your money. Your power supply is huge. Are you planning on running dual GPU’s? That’s way overki...

Re: New monster PC for FlightSim

The red team (AMD)currently is blowing the blue team(Nvidia) out of the water right now as far as processors are concerned. Check out the benchmarks. You get a much bigger bang for your buck right now going with AMD. Hasn’t always been that way for sure. No contest at all. As far as a pre-built mac...

Re: New monster PC for FlightSim

Thanks all for the excellent feedback so far! I’ll make the correction CAPflyer suggests in reducing RAM to 32GB, and instead make sure to get faster RAM. I’ll also make sure to check out AMD CPU as well. I don’t know their numbers and names, so does anyone know of an equivalent AMD to i9 9900K? As ...

Re: New monster PC for FlightSim

I am building a new AMD system based around the 8 core Ryzen 3800 . I still have a few components to buy, including the video card. When I finally get my $1200.00 stimulus payment I will get the rest of the components and post more info. I've always been told that Intel is the way to go with Flight...

Re: New monster PC for FlightSim

I just had one built for me by PC Specialist. P3D v4 flies on it. You can read more in the link below, on these forums. The only difference is that I ended up with 2 x 2TB M.2 (NVMe) drives instead of a 1 and a 2. P3D and scenery is on the faster Samsung drive, although, the Intel is no slouch eith...

Re: New monster PC for FlightSim

I’ve saved up a bit of money lately, and have sort of decided to buy my first new gaming PC since 2008. My current has been upgraded over the years, but it needs everything new from power supply on up, so a new build is probably better. I’m looking at something i9 9900 ish, with RTX2080ti, and NVMe...

Re: New monster PC for FlightSim

Can't offer any advice on the new hardware since I haven't researched it, but will say I had doubts about building my own. Did my research for months, slowly bought each piece as sales came up, and had absolutely no problems building it myself. Easy! PC works beautifully, never had a problem with i...

Re: Pilotedge transponder

I’d love to see this as well. My immersion is killed for a few important seconds when having to open a P3D menu to squawk ident. It’s not the safest thing either, as this can happen just after departure and on my way into IMC. :-P

I'll echo what Nick said. It may be that you have had a bad string of luck. Also, it's important to hand prop the airplane before starting because it's possible you started it after it was sitting and you didn't have the oil drain can attached. This will be a quick and sure fire way to bend a rod o...

Re: Prepar3d v5 incoming in days!

I guess people are downloading like socially distancing aviation geeks, as I haven't been able to see a hint of a smidgeon of a particle of a vestige of a whisper of a clue of a fraction of an iota of a pixel of the webpage to Prepar3d.

But if you are close enough to look into a persons eyes, are you really practicing social distancing? Binoculars perhaps.....yeah, that’s the ticket! :D
Oh... Is spying on people with binocs frowned upon? Hmm.. No wonder my neighbours are rerouting around me all the time... :-P

Re: Covid-19 Silver Lining

My grandfather (and now I too am a grandfather) always told me that you could judge the character of another man by the strength in his handshake. Guess we’ll need to figure out how to judge the character of a man through the style exhibited in his “AIR” fake elbow or knuckle bump. I prefer a confi...
