Re: 2020 AirVenture Oshkosh is "un-cancelled", for us simmers!

I’ve listened to those guys for many years watching Oshkosh arrival videos. Must be cool to be controlled by the real deal. Such a shame it’s not open to P3D/FSX/x-plane users. Pilot Edge is such a small section of our community. Start a 2 week trial! Load up your sim of choice, study the NOTAMs an...

What's not open to P3D/FSX/XP?

Re: 2020 AirVenture Oshkosh is "un-cancelled", for us simmers!

It has been an astoundingly successful first day of SimVenture 2020 Oshkosh. Hope to rock my wings with some of you A2A-nerds on Thursdag, Friday, and Saturday. Here is some behind the scenes footage during the event to day; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_m45dWCTjw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Re: Aerostar Checkout - success

That sounded healthy enough. :D Exciting eh? Well yes but... the engine is EXTREMELY smooth. I ran both later and they both feel and sound completely different. We're not sure why or if this is even an issue, but Monday is going to be an interesting day because I'm going to run both engines at full...

Re: 2020 AirVenture Oshkosh is "un-cancelled", for us simmers!

Only one week to go! I've been testing for a few hours today, with the real controllers from Oshkosh AirVenture . They will be do the controlling during the event, so this will be as real as it gets. Glorious fun! "Cleared to land on the Orange Dot." https://i.imgur.com/YDAweZx.jpg "Follow the flagm...

Re: Aerostar Checkout - success

Now it looks like tomorrow (Thursday) is the day the left engine will be started. We've been waiting on two parts to arrive. I'll bring some go pros to capture this very first startup. Can't wait to fly this again. Scott. Don't forget a good microphone. Not to hear you speak, but to hear the Aerost...

Re: 2020 AirVenture Oshkosh is "un-cancelled", for us simmers!

Will the war bird arrival also be simulated? or just the GA route in. Ian This year they are doing the Fisk-arrival only. So basically a GA-prop event. If this is to be a major success (which I think it will be), they are toying with including the War Bird Island arrival as well. (and IFR!) BTW: It...

Re: 2020 AirVenture Oshkosh is "un-cancelled", for us simmers!

I’d say it is good for all that are comfortable with online flying, an even those who want to try.

Hint: no talking on the radio required. Only listening for approach and landing instructions. :)

Being able to fly the aircraft proficiently is needed, though. :)

Interesting to hear that the 400 has aux tanks as well. Does it gobble a lot of fuel?
It can, but doesn't have too. It can run comfortably at 1800 RPM.

Scott
I bet the sound is at its best around that range...

Re: Simulate Aux Wing Fuel Tanks

Hi Michael, Good question but we don't simulate these aux tanks in the wing. The Comanche 400 has both aux tanks in the wing and tip tanks and WHEN we make the 400 we will certainly simulate this. But for the 250, it's not in the cards. Scott Fixed that for you, Scott. Interesting to hear that the ...

Re: Laminar flow VS turbulent flow. NERD ALERT! :D

Absolutely fascinating. Two additional things this video shows: 1. What clouds really look like. 2. What lightning really looks like. Does anyone know what that blue planet surface is? It was shown in the video right after images of Jupiter, but Jupiter isn't that color. Jupiter with a color filter...

Laminar flow VS turbulent flow. NERD ALERT! :D

One of my favorite YouTube channels, Veritasium, has recently published this awesome video about turbulent flow.
Apart from being utterly fascinating, it is highly relevant for aviation geeks.

Beautiful screenshot Jan Kees. Sorry for the silence from our end guys, but you should be able to fly the Accu-Sim B-17 in P3Dv5 (and v4) quite soon. :)

Thanks,
Nick
Holy foxtrot! This is great news! I'm so glad you haven't forgotten about this lovely bird! :-D Thanks a billion!
