Re: Rowan Software -- Where are They Now?
Yes, I understand the deal from all those years ago, but it's 2020 and BoB II doesn't run correctly on Windows 10 unless you use that reversion patch. Maybe some of those guys are retired now and would have some spare time to lend. The original programmers of the game engine, I should think, could b...

Rowan Software -- Where are They Now?
It's been a long time since Rowan disappeared, has anyone ever had contact with any of the original BoB programmers or artists or whomever? I'd hate to think none of them have any interest or love for this game, and it would be nice if they had some spare time to volunteer to make this game better. ...

OT: Docu "Spitfire: The Plane that Saved the World"
This is a 2018 documentary, originally just titled Spitfire , that many of you may have seen, but if not, it's available on Netflix right now. It's also available for purchase in other places like Amazon. It's 1:34 minutes long and is very well presented. It has a lot of firsthand accounts from RAF ...

Re: Petition to get A2A to fix the BOB II 2.13 patch to work on Win 10 and modern systems.
Maybe they should consider doing a kickstarter for BoB3, then sell it on Steam. Might make some good money to hire developers that way, and then they'd have more incentive to modernize the game. I'm not suggesting a whole new engine or anything, but certainly the menus could use a complete overhaul....

Re: OK, so where is 2,13?
Excuse the interruption, but I wanted to ask, how old is the power supply in you computer, and what is its output rating? I ask because it sounds like it might be getting overloaded. This can make anything drawing power from it overheat as well. I took a whole PC down once because I used too weak a ...

OT: Douglas Bader, This Is Your Life
Maybe this should be in the Pilot's Lounge, but it seems more appropriate in here, to me. Has anyone else seen this? I just discovered it. It's quite fascinating!

Re: Windows 10 Solution for the CTD issue for BOB2WOV
I don't suppose there's any chance BoB2 would ever be open-source, would there? Maybe then some fresh, eager, bright-eyed idealistic young coders could take a crack at fixing it.

Re: Windows 7 irritant: KB4493132
It doesn't really matter that much that support will end for Windows 7, as long as it's still similar to Windows 10. The real death knell will be when they've modified Win10 so much that it no longer shares enough commonality with 7, which will cause developers to stop supporting it. But that's a fe...

Re: New Game Out: Plane Mechanic Simulator
* Curious diversion: I use three dictionaries for spellcheck - English, Canadian, and US. The first two demand "instalments", and reject "installments", while the third does the reverse (often the Canadian will be ambivalent, but not here). This was a regional variant I haven't ...

New Game Out: Plane Mechanic Simulator
I wouldn't normally mention an outside product like this, but this simulator looks like it could be right up your alley if you hang out in this forum. https://store.steampowered.com/app/803980/Plane_Mechanic_Simulator/ I haven't bought it yet [Update: yes I have], but the videos look neat and it has...

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried running BoB2 on a virtual machine? VMWare Player is free and supports 3D acceleration, so it might be a useful tool.

Re: Running 2.13 on Windows 10 with no CTD so far
It's possible that the video files will play back correctly in a different format (this has been an issue for several years now). The original files were encoded using Indeo 5 for the codec, apparently. If you use a standard MPEG2 format, it may work fine. I converted all the videos a few years ago....

Re: WINDOWS 10 ON LAPTOPS HP DV7
The videos can be converted to avi files with free software. Then they will play just fine, if you like that sort of thing. I seem to remember doing this several years ago and posting links on the forum, though I'm certain they'd be dead links by now. But anyone with a little ambition should be able...

BoB2 control buttons on your phone
Hi folks, I haven't posted here in awhile but it just occurred to me that this game could benefit from an app called Power Grid that Roccat makes available for free (with some limitations) which could be quite useful for mapping those controls which are hardest to remember or hardest to maneuver you...

Re: BoB2 Converted Videos for Windows 7 and Vista Players
Here's a copy of my originals again, if anyone wants to try them. I know Bucic says they're encoded badly, but honestly I can't tell the difference between these and the originals. They play fine on my PC with no stuttering at all. The aspect ratio looks right, and they're not terribly huge; the who...
