Re: WWII Color Video of Damage from The Blitz
Pappy, thank you for the continued stream of articles. Great reading and pics. Trumper, I agree the color adds a critical element to the footage. It seems less like looking back in time to some distant memory and more like a living city that's crumbling before you. I watched it a couple times with t...

WWII Color Video of Damage from The Blitz
Raw footage apparently just found:

The quality is not great but being in color easily makes up for that.

I'll bet you're keeping a close eye on that monster--Ike looks mighty angry. I cringe for all of you down there on the Gulf.Buddye wrote: It is a bit hard for me focus right now and for the next few days as I need to worry about Hurricane Ike:

Re: More about Flak......
Good stories. You have to hand it to that guy for some really industrious use of time that must otherwise have been awful... cooped up, injured and alone. Have you seen Memphis Belle? I still cringe at the thought of the scene where the ball turret gunner is trapped in his turret in the bottom of t...

Re: If you like a bit of speed...
Too many browsers in my life as-is, so I haven't tried Chrome yet. Opera has been my mainstay browser for years though I keep Firefox in store for those moments when a site doesn't behave well with Opera. I'm sure Chrome is fast, since I hear it's based on webkit. Hopefully the Linux and Mac version...

Hi Tommy76. While I can't tell you about FSX, I can tell you that BOB has been blessed with an incredible attention to detail from the very beginning. The Rowan folks were very ambitious and detailed to begin with and that heritage was retained by the BDG and Shockwave/A2A into BOB2. Several very ta...

I really like the Merlin sounds in this pack. It's amazing what a difference sound can make and these files really evoke the sense of flying a spirited steed. They also sound more like other recordings of the Merlin that I've heard. I do hear the slight looping that Melbatoast mentioned. If that wer...

I too have been using Avast successfully for some time on all of my Windows systems. It updates itself automatically (often multiple times per day) and coexists very nicely with BOB2. Prior to Avast, I ran AVG. I don't recall any specific problems with AVG and BOB2, but Avast seems a little more pol...

I'd just like to second PV's endorsement of Irfanview. It's lightweight and easy to use, but very powerful as an image viewer and converter. Full-screen browsing (or slideshows) of a folder is simple and it works with nearly any image format, plus quite few video formats and even text files. It can ...

Pete Brothers seems to have thought his mirror was at least somewhat useful. See his quote at the bottom of this page . Personally, I can't believe mirrors would have been so widely utilized if they didn't provide at least some benefit. Naturally, more visibility from the cockpit was the real answer...
