T-6 in P3Dv5 (Screenshots)

Here are a set of screenshots (cropped, but otherwise unedited) taken on a couple of flights around Jackson Hole, Wyoming (ORBX scenery) in P3Dv5. Default sky, clouds and water using the "enhanced atmospherics" and HDR lighting. The paint scheme is one of the repaints I released back around the time...

Re: Pensacola SNJ-5 BuNo.91066 (WIP)

Thank you to Bill for letting me know about this. I had lost the original compiled repaint a while back, having done a couple complete system re-installs since the time I made it, but I still had all of the original raw texture files associated with this repaint, so after re-compiling everything and...

Re: A2A Ruined "Dunkirk" For Me (SPOILER ALERT)

No, they used one of the UK-based Hispano Buchons, dressed as a Bf-109.

Re: A2A Ruined "Dunkirk" For Me (SPOILER ALERT)

At least they used two actual Mk.1 Spitfires in the making of the movie, as well as a disguised early Mk.V - no CGI at all. The views of the actors in the cockpit, going through maneuvers, was all captured actually in-flight, not using a green screen, by using a highly modified Yak-52TW, flying side...

Re: New Kermie Cam (P-51D part 3, must watch!)

Note that the green light was never illuminated as it should have been when Kermit turned the electrical power on, did the start-up, taxied-out, final pre-takeoff checks, etc. Although he should have recognized this issue at that time, I can tell that he was going by the mentality of flying his stoc...

Re: New Kermie Cam (P-51D part 3, must watch!)

Other than talking up the recording, he seemed very confident to rely on the feeling alone, having flown the aircraft (on and off) for a very long time - since 1979. Also, as he points out, even though the green light didn't turn on, the red light went out when the gear did lock, which is also a pre...

Re: Vlado Lenoch

Aside from the love for flying them, Vlado Lenoch was a true Mustang enthusiast, and he loved to learn and share in the details and history of the aircraft (the running joke with Vlado was that he was the Mustang gear door inspector, keeping an eye out for any Mustang owner/operator that had anythin...

Re: New Kermie Cam (P-51D part 2)

Actually, about half of the P-51D's produced came from the factory with the N-9 reflector gun sight, as installed in Kermit Weeks' P-51D. For all P-51D-5-NA, D-10-NA, D-15-NA, and the first half of P-51D-20-NA production (as well as the equivalent Dallas-production) - making up most of the Mustangs ...

Re: New Kermie Cam

I'm looking forward to seeing the full series on the P-51D. As I recall, he skipped over some of these pre-flight checks on the P-51C videos, so got them in this time around. A few items possibly worth noting... Kermit Weeks comments that you can't put a jump seat in the back of a P-51B/C like you c...

Re: SCREENSHOTS

Inspired by Sethos' post, I had to go out and get that airport scenery too (Saginaw, by Turbulent Designs) - screenshots from FSX. One of these days, I'm going to have to get back into completing some repaints for this plane again (so many more I'd like to do/see)... http://i7.photobucket.com/albums...

Re: A visit at "Hangar 10" collection

Fantastic photos, and thank you very much for sharing them! It is a most intriguing collection. The entire collection of aircraft are currently for sale, at premium prices - the owner keeping the planes on the market, but with every intention to continue flying them and adding to the collection. Han...

New Texas Flying Legends Zero Repaint

Here are some screenshots of a new repaint I've released at Flightsim.com, Avsim, and Sim-Outhouse, using ICDP's great paintkit. It depicts the Nakajima A6M2 Model 21 owned/operated by the Texas Flying Legends Museum, registered N8280K - one of only five actual A6M Zero's flying. The repaint also fe...

Re: Plane Resurrection

I have seen the full series and it is fantastic viewing. I think my favorites are the ones on Peter and his Fokker Dr.1 replica and Maurice Hammond's daughter Leah Young on flying the T-6 and working so hard to commemorate/memorialize the American flyers that were based over in England during WWII. ...

Her original Travel Air Mystery Ship is still around and was restored to airworthy (though not flown), but is kept squirreled-away from the public by a prolific private collector in the UK. http://www.legendofpanchobarnes.com/ind ... -no-longer

Re: Paul Mantz

Yeah, Mantz had two C-model Mustangs - one (NX1202) is now on display in the Smithsonian, and the other (NX1204) is still flying, owned/operated by Kermit Weeks (now known as "Ina the Macon Belle" since its restoration in the 90's, completed in 2000). The P-51B/C is faster than the D by at least 15+...
