Re: Shortest landing
One note of caution…if it is the Aerosoft version (which is very well done) doesn’t tolerate any deviation from the runway! Correct! That's the addon scenery I'm using. Just got it and installed it, currently going to mess around with the airport using the DH-6 that comes with Aerosoft's Antarctic ...

Shortest landing
Yesterday I was off of work, spending the day with my newborn. During nap time I caught the tail end of the movie “Everest”, and then threw on “Summit of the Gods” (another Everest movie) on Netflix. You can probably see where this is going. Yes, I want to attempt landing the mighty 377 at Lukla air...

Pilot Operating Manaual
Not sure if anyone is interested, but I stumbled across an excellent digital copy of PAA's operating handbook for the 377. It's stored digitally on the Univ. of Miami's library database. Free to view and free to download pages from. Pretty neat to see the pilot's signatures signed off in the beginni...

Re: Pitching up?
Nick,
Just wanted to follow up and say your suggestion worked! I think one of the files in the appdata became corrupted, after deleting everything and doing a fresh install it works great!
Thanks for the help!

Re: Pitching up?
Hey Nick, Sorry about the lack of info: I use FSX Steam, and according to the hanger everything is fine and all control inputs appear normal. I've tried a few uninstalls and re-installs yet can't seem to fix the issue. I didn't have this problem until I added a new texture, and I think the file is n...

Pitching up?
Hey guys, Noticed a new issue that I've never seen or experienced before. Lately whenever I takeoff, the aircraft dramatically wants to pitch up. I've tried changing fuel, passengers, etc. to no avail. It's to the point where as soon as I hit 40mph it's riding on it's back wheels. Tried a clean inst...

First flight lesson down!
Today I accomplished a longtime goal. I finished my first flight lesson. I believe that lesson solidifies the realism of the A2A system. I am not a pilot, nor have I ever sat in a cockpit during a flight. I arrived early and was able to help the CFI with the pre flight check and walk around. During ...

Re: Did 2WW aircraft actualky have ILS ?
So we won't see the ILS gauge in any actual WW2 footage ? Correct. It appears as though it was only operating in Germany under the Lorenzo beam. In the original B-17 manual, the gauge that is currently an ILS gauge is a turn indicator, next to a flight indicator gyro horizon. BUT the ILS gauge that...

Back in the (strat) saddle
With my department releasing our COVID responsibilities to other agencies, I’ve finally had some time to get back into simming. Got back in the 377 after taking a long, long hiatus bouncing between the ‘Fort and the Connie. Came back around to my first A2A experience, the original queen of the skies...

Re: Did 2WW aircraft actualky have ILS ?
Currently reading “three engines, half a wing, and a prayer” and it shows a map of the 303’s airbase in Europe. On either end of the longest runway it has a navigational beacon, so I’m curious if they had ILS capabilities.

Re: B-17 Carb Ice Issues
Roger,
I’m curious if it’s due to the fact that it’s an early project from A2A, so maybe their carb ice coding isn’t the most advanced? I know the 377 has a carb heat switch, so icing isn’t as noticeable (flip the switch when temps are cold and forget about it lol)

Re: Tips on starting in cold weather?
Hi Rob, I fly in the Northeast, so we have a history of long cold winters. After studying WWII B-17 training films, and doing a little experimentation, I've found that the following works best for me: Fuel pumps on, cowl flaps open, selected engine oil dilution on, turbo set to 4, prime selected eng...
