Re: XPlane 12

I don't know what region you VFR but I can tell you my home area, Pennsylvania USA has the correct rerrain and geography. The town footprints are mostly correct and the streets and roads. Enough so for me to VFR based on my native familiarity. I'm in Europe, maybe that explains why XPlane looks so ...

Re: XPlane 12

As a non-MP person, count me as another one who'd like a better ATC and ACC (area control centre) implementation. At least with good support for VFR and taxi. From what I've seen and heard of XP12, the scenery is still the same as X-Plane 11, so that's a big problem for me. As long as it's not possi...

Re: Accu-Sim Comanche MSFS Cockpit Screenshots

I'm surprised to read that the terrain would be a motivation to move to X-Plane, it's always been the worst in that regard, in my experience. The strong points of X-Plane are the flight model experience and a better support for helicopters. Is there a big improvement planned for XP12 with the terrai...

Re: What is the BEST A2A airplane?

I haven't used it in a long time, last time was P3D v3.x. I had an awesome time with most of the modules, but emotionally the B-17 is the one that stands out (even though it was normally for FSX and not P3D).

Re: Why is A2A still Using fsx

I have seen professional simulators and it has nothing to do with this. As a matter of fact, in many ways, the days are numbered for this way of thinking. Currently I'm part of a very important program that is being funded to challenge these traditional concepts. Flight Simulator and it's derivativ...

Re: Why is A2A still Using fsx

This debate is pointless, and mostly guesswork or wishful thinking. Just respect the dev's decision, they know more than us and I don't think they need to prove it anymore. There’s a reason so few high end developers have gone full tilt in developing for XPlane, and that’s because the ...

Re: Canadian Winter

Here, this winter has mostly been pouring rain, fog and very low ceiling (and thus no VFR). But perhaps still preferable to that kind of extreme winter ;) Drifting a little more on the cat side. When I was a kid we had a fair amount of snow for the region, a nice 30-50 cm white carpet all over the p...

Re: New rudder pedals - learning how to fly all over again

I have the same problem on occasion with the left brake. It seems to happen when I have not used the pedals for a while. I have taken the pedal apart have examined the magnet and transistor and I cannot find any obvious problem. The temp fix is to just wiggle the cable coming from the brake and it ...

Re: New rudder pedals - learning how to fly all over again

Lusting after the MFG pedals myself! At 320 € VAT included, it won't come cheap though. I have Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals as of now, but I am not completely happy with them in terms of feel and accuracy. Plus the tow brakes are too sensitive, IMO. The pedals are easy, though, to use "co...

Re: Can you spot the pilots mistake(s?) on take off?

I rarely see or hear of procedures/flows and checklists being mixed up being a factor in accidents. It's the base training of the pilot or their decision that they "don't need" a checklist becuase they've got them memorized that lead to things being missed that start, contribute to, or ar...
