Re: Next Plane For 2020

I haven't flown anything but the Comanche since it was released, but I'm hoping for something more capable as well. Some of the design decisions by Piper, at least on the Comanche as depicted, and the damn flex wing have mitigated the amazing Accusim 2 for me. Looking forward to the next offering. I...

Re: Can't push with T bar and won't taxi.

I've had the same issue with the T-Bar, I finally got it to sort of work today by moving the controller side to side, but it was very inconsistent. Didn't used to be an issue.

Re: Compass and Navigation not equal

I’ve heard that...I don’t remember in which book I read that, “Navigators are funny folks who when asked for the time, will answer with something along the lines of 12:47:23, when all I wanted to know is if it’s before or after lunch”. Cheers, Rob Sounds about right. Gotta be precise abou...

Re: Compass and Navigation not equal

Those earlier ones must have been interesting systems to operate in practice, with having to use different sources to keep the solution thereabouts. Nowadays everything is usually so integrated that one needs to purposely study things to have much any idea of how the magic happens. Of course, the e...

Re: Compass and Navigation not equal

The INS in the F14 was so accurate you could set coordinates on the ramp, tow the aircraft 25 feet and check the coordinates again. They would show the movement. DH Those things are brilliant. Way back I asked someone to check out something for me. After a six-hour or so flight, none of the three i...

Re: Compass and Navigation not equal

Sometimes I do hafta "cheat" and hit the D on the keyboard. It is tough to read the compass in the sim if there's turbulence or wind throwing the plane around. I sometimes also use a vor radial that im tuned into for HSI calibration. How do you do use the radial to calibrate the HSI? I ca...

Re: Compass and Navigation not equal

Amen ! DAH Right on Rob! This is what I appreciate about the A2A fidelity and depth. I can carry on just as I would in the real world. At times making mistakes but at the same time learning from them and having a blast! Cheers Gents! Rob @Saucy12: Yep exactly…and with that in mind, learning LOTS!! ...

Re: Will the Piper follow the GPS with its basic AP?

I've been flying it a lot recently... well, since the day it was released. It will 'try' to follow the new track, but it seems to limit the bank to maybe 10 degrees, so you will go way way wide on a 90 degree turn. My technique, as I approach a turn, I set the AP to bank mode while it's straight and...

Re: About the auto-pilot

The autopilot page in the PMS50 GTN 750 does not have any function. I have downloaded the WTT file from PMS50 but speed hold altitude select etc does not function I'm pretty sure the GTN750 doesn't change the capabilities of the autopilot, just gives you access to them. The AP on the Comanche doesn...

Re: Sampling fuel from empty tanks in walkaround

Scott said he hasn't modeled the limitations on the tanks, so you can drain them completely dry. But I've seen a reading of 0 with some fuel left in the tip tank. To get all of it, I switch to the opposite main and leave the tip on for 10 minutes or so to get the last drop inflight. Then when I do t...

Re: GNS 430 oddity

It is. Self-test is not. Does it work for you? Yes, it runs through the startup, finds the satellites, etc. Everything is working to my knowledge except the glitch with the CDI button. Not that I'm blaming you for anything, but this is the kind of situation that allows developers to prey on the ign...

Re: GNS 430 oddity

Yes, someone mentioned eariier in the thread it may be a WT thing. This is the first aircraft I"ve flown with the 430 as the primary GPS, so I guess I never noticed it before. It's minor in any case. It is. Self-test is not. Does it work for you? Yes, it runs through the startup, finds the sat...

Re: Pitot Tube icing buiding up

I can't remember now where I read it, but I've always been instructed to turn on pitot heat any time the temperature is at or below 10 degrees C. So if I think there's a possibility the temp will go below that, I turn it on before takeoff, or if it dips below that inflight. To my knowledge, leaving ...
