Re: Barrel Roll vs. Aileron Roll
Got out in the T-6 this evening to try a barrel roll. Took off from Harvey Field (S43) and headed towards the mountains while climbing to 5,000 MSL. I didn't find the classic two roads at a 90 degree crossing angle with a convenient mountain offset by 45 degrees, but I found enough terrain to make i...

Barrel Roll vs. Aileron Roll
I've been looking into the difference between an aileron roll and a barrel roll. The basic technique for a aileron roll is to pull the nose up about 15 degrees or so, and move the stick sideways untill the airplane goes through a complete roll, neutralize the stick as the horizon comes back to level...

Another rpretty cool B-17 video
Guys: I just watched this on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-F2o0803EVM . It's a startup, runup, taxi out, back-taxi (no runway left behind), then a takeoff in a late-model B-17. This one has the electrical turbo control rather than the individual hydraulic controls. Lots going on. The old...

Sunday 14-Apr-2024 Idaho Boogey
Fellow Misfits: Let's explore the wilds of Idaho! Our route will take us from Lewiston-Nez Perce County Airport (KLWS) to the small strip at Warren, Idaho (3U1) https://www.secesh.net/pics/Shepp.jpg We'll fly down river canyons and over many small strips along the way. We might touch & go, or ev...

Re: Friday 29th March. Turkey, Gateway to Asia
All set. Ready to go. How come we don't have a file to load into the GNS 750 on my J-3 Cub? How can I fly this?
Sorry man - just kidding.
Keep on rockin' in a free world.

Re: Sunday 31-Mar-2024 B-17 Training Flight
The mission profile has been updated with another SkyVector link that shows all the VORs we'll be flying over. Also, the takeoff time has been changed to 19:00 Zulu.

Sunday 31-Mar-2024 B-17 Training Flight
As you were: This Sunday we are taking our B-17s on a training mission from Boeing Field (KBFI) to to Mountain Home AFB (KMOU). Our assigned altitude is FL200. Our planned route KBFI -> BLAKO -> V4 -> ATETY -> KMOU. We'll be above FL180 so we'll be IFR. Skyvector route: https://skyvector.com/?ll=45....

Re: Sunday, March 24 - Fly For Your Life!
Guys: Tyler the grandkid and his fiancée are coming up from Oregon for a visit. One of his objectives of the trip is to do his taxes on my computer. My son Chris is coming by later in the afternoon and we'll all have pizza. Then Tyler has to drive back to Oregon so they can go to work on Monday. If ...

Re: Sunday, March 24 - Fly For Your Life!
I've been messing around with various routes in an attempt to get there while staying as low as possible. Dunno. One easy way out would be to steal that non-A2A C-47 sitting over there on the ramp. No - guess I'll try it in the Bonanaza. Balls to the wall, as low as possible.

Re: P3Dv6
Right now I've got P3D v5 working perfectly on my 2016 Jetline 'puter. My main programs are P3D, with A2A aircraft, followed by Active Sky and ORBX. Also my RXP GTN 650 and 750. Once that I am totally sure that ALL of those things will work in v6, I'll make the switch. I might even get a new Jetline...

Sunday 3-Mar-2024 Viva Las Vegas! (IFR)
Fellow Misfits: I'm proposing an IFR flight from sometimes sunny, sometimes foggy, Half Moon Bay Airport (KHAF) to North Las Vegas Airport (KVGT). It'll be IFR. Not to worry, I'm sure we're all up to the challenge! We'll be following Victor Airways for most of the way. https://01e5a79a.flyingcdn.com...

Re: GNS750 Course Line Question
Yesterday we were on a Misfits MP flight; P-51s from Crescent City to Blaine Airport, part way via the Coast, then east from Tillamook over to a scenic viewing of the major glaciated peaks: Hood, Adams, St. Helens, etc. I had the flight plan all set up in the RXP GTN 650 in that very convenient GPS ...
