Re: A bit of spring

Great pic, Marc, thanks for sharing! Airport Codes.com has codes for over 47,000 airports worldwide: https://www.world-airport-codes.com/ I have maybe like 15 of them memorized, if that. I like knowing the history behind some of the odd ones. For example, Spokane International's code is KGEG because...

Re: Wasp Nest

Probably a shop rag, though dealing with a wasp nest would take Accu-simming to a whole 'nother level.

In case you were curious, a 757 once came to grief because of a wasp nest in a pitot tube. Read all about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birgenair_Flight_301

Re: Flaps broke on 1st April - is this some kind of joke?

:) You know the old saying:
If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape. If neither works, use a hammer

Re: Good article about the continuing Boeing culture of failure

The saga continues. According to ABC news, " Kayak has seen an uptick in users who are filtering out the [737 Max] when searching for flights."

Re: COMANCHE FOLLIES

Since this is my first post, hello to everyone! Now a little story to add something, I’ve been enjoying this masterpiece of a airplane mod yesterday by doing some Iceland exploring in rather rough weather, during the trip from west to east coast about 20 minutes after takeoff the whole dashboard st...

Re: COMANCHE FOLLIES

Great job saving your virtual self, dchap! At 2,500 feet and hilly terrain, options for a suitable landing site are precious and few. Not to Monday-morning-quarterback, but you’ll want to throw the master switch before touching down, or at least that’s how I was trained. I assume this is so an erran...

Re: COMANCHE FOLLIES

Oil lines were the first thing to start failing for me as well. I’m only at about 27 hours for the MSFS Comanche, but at a 2X wear rate. Can’t seem to find the time to get into the shop to get them replaced, so for now I’m adding oil as needed and keeping an eye on the oil loss rate. I think it’s lo...

Oil color and crank failure?

Hi everyone, I was thinking about couple of real-world instances I've seen of a crank bearing going out--one of these involving an airplane--and it causing the engine oil to turn black. Not the darker-brown color associated with "normal" service but black. It got me to wondering, does our ...

Re: Next Plane For 2020

I’d be happy with ports of their existing GA aircraft for the time being. I know they publicly stated that wasn’t their plan. But boy it would be nice to use them in MsFs 2020, like reuniting with an old friend…. I’d gladly pay full price and buy each of them over again for MsFs 2020. I recall at o...

Tug is banned because, when push comes to shove, don't we all want a P-51?

Re: Next Plane For 2020

In case there ever was both naturally aspirated and turbocharged model of the 'same' aircraft, I'd prefer having properly different variants instead of tickbox option. -Esa Sure, different models would be great with me. This is the kind of knowledge/experience I'm talking about that I like to learn...

Re: Next Plane For 2020

Pressurized piston would be great, though I'd be happy with anything turbocharged. Better still--if such a thing is feasible--something that gave us the option to chose turbo- or normally-aspirated in the maintenance hangar/tablet. It would be a lot of fun to explore the realm of turbocharged engine...
