Sunday, April 21 - The Maldives

https://i.imgur.com/D2zreCW.png As a complete departure from the mountains, valleys, rivers, and canyons that have featured so prominently in our recent flights, we move to a country that has none of the above. Less than one percent of the nation is dry land, and its highest point is a towering 7 f...

Nice try, Nick, but no. Trim is disabled in the configurator, hangar assessment is "Great shape".

Autopilot Issue

Curious issue with the Cherokee autopilot that arose recently. (Yes, I'm still flying it and loving it after - how long has it been? - TEN YEARS!) In trimmed level flight, when I engage the altitude hold the aircraft pitches down and descends, porpoising. It will hold altitude if the trim is run way...

Re: Sunday, March 24 - Fly For Your Life!

Some food for thought: I did a test flight in the Comanche. Climbed to 16,000 feet in 18 minutes. First symptoms of hypoxia began 14 minutes later. Descended, levelled briefly at 14,000 and still experienced symptoms, then went down to 12,000 for 10 minutes where I was fine. Climbed up to 17,000 in ...

Re: Sunday, March 24 - Fly For Your Life!

You noticed! Just to reassure you: I flew the straight-line route in the Comanche with a few deviations around the higher stuff and a LOT of diving into the low bits to stave off hypoxia and only once experienced the first symptoms.
Of course, most of the time I was at about 50 feet AGL. :D

Re: Huge amount of water in my fuel this morning

"On that topic, I was wondering how much a full walkaround is really needed, if you make several flights in quick succession." I've found, for example, a missing aileron nut, a damaged flap linkage, and a quirky elevator trim tab on various A2A airplanes. Each one, presumably, happened on ...
