Re: Rudder trim

No worries. The system is indeed a rather curious in design, as the rudder trim, basically, pushes/pulls against the nose gear steering, which in turn connects to the rudder pedals via a pair of steering rods. That's some path to transmit actuation, so to say. I don't know how strong the trim is in ...

Re: Rudder trim

It is an adjustable spring applying pressure to the nose gear steering arm, which in turn is connected to the rudder pedals. So in the real, the rudder would move with the trim, if ever so slightly, at least if you lightened the nose wheel some.

Re: flying in cold weather

Just to add a bit, the warning is operated by a micro switch on the throttle shaft. So it comes on at certain throttle position, which does not always correspond to exactly the same manifold pressure but would depend on things such as RPM and altitude. It also means that the horn will not wake you u...

Re: flying in cold weather

That would be the landing gear warning horn.

Re: Active Sky for MSFS

I've never been too a big fan of ASN, which would be the previous implementation, even if it is, and with a margin, the best weather engine for P3D. And, interestingly, that is, for a big part, precisely because of it religiously matching the METARs instead of having any sort of apparent understandi...

Re: My Charging indicator shows charging after all...

Hi Frank, I replicated your findings on purpose, by abusing the starter for some. Indeed, I can as well get some fairly lasting charging current at around 20 amperes. Which is pretty much as expected. Though curiously, the volts here show a noticeable drop from the set value without the charging cur...

Re: My Charging indicator shows charging after all...

Well, there should not be some scripted behavior of what happens, but it all would depend on how depleted your battery is and of its condition. 20 amperes sounds quite a lot for charging in case of A2A Comanche, happening all the way into the flight. In my case, the charging current does normally ta...

Re: Comanche with turbo engine?

What I mean that there never was, to my knowledge, an STC or a mod out there to install an IO-720 into Comanche 250. It is not directly about how much a change and work it would be as such, rather laborious ones indeed do exist. But more that it was never done (except possibly, however very unlikely...

Re: Comanche with turbo engine?

The 400 was never an engine mod of a 250 but a completely different model of an aircraft. In case of V35, the optional IO-550 engine would represent a fairly common STC'd alternative to the IO-520 power plants, both Continentals.

Re: Paro - VQPR runway 15 approach

Okay, I assume you are using PMS GTN then. :)

The GTN should not load these approaches, but I assume a case of relaxed realism from their part.

Re: Paro - VQPR runway 15 approach

Out of curiosity, did you build the approach yourself? Even while Garmins do not / can not readily support RNP AR, they still allow constructing a regular flight plan using, basically, whatever waypoints you want. https://dl.dropbox.com/scl/fi/lsk7sdl76zk2rn4uiepjd/vqpr2.png?rlkey=151khwngyqx3jazs1h...

Re: Paro - VQPR runway 15 approach

In practice, no, it really isn't. You really don't have any residual performance whatsoever that high in conditions that are probably above ISA temperatures as well. That said, you probably can get it that high with light aircraft. Use full throttle, full RPM or thereabouts, and lean for best power....

Re: Next Plane For 2020

Oh my how different it would be. :) The A2A Comanche in MSFS is just about the first proper simulation of the dihedral effect on the platform, where you can properly bank the airplane with some rudder (or by slipping it otherwise, including by not paying attention). As far as I can figure it out, t...
