Re: Installed SSD for P3D V4 - Wow factor!
Just reading both of your posts, a bunch of light bulbs went on in my head. For over a year, I've been trying to figure out why my P3DV4 performance seems bottle-necked, even though CPU and GPU usage is nowhere near 100%. I originally thought it was a game engine limitation (thought "I guess th...

Re: Weather engine
I use Active Sky for P3DV4. Love it! I love that you have the option to do custom weather, or real-time weather, even historic weather!

Re: I HATE Windows 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm running P3DV4 on Windows 10 and have had zero issues. Defender leaves it alone and P3D runs as I would expect for a system of this spec.

Living my dream virtually
I've always wanted to left-seat a V35 Bonanza. I think they look cool and the engineering behind the V-Tail fascinates me. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, I am no longer able to fly, and I probably won't fly IRL ever again. That sucks, because I had a number of airplanes on my...

Re: AMD RYZEN
The R5 2600X is a great buy! Compared to Intel, it's performance is within single-digit percentage points. If you're looking for lots of cores at a reasonably low price, Ryzen is the way to go! Just be wary of your RAM clock speeds. With Ryzen, higher RAM clock speeds are better. Example: DDR4-3200 ...

Back in the game (possibly)
I just did a fresh re-install of windows, followed by a fresh install of P3D V4.2. I learned some stuff about "read/write/modify" privileges within Windows 10 that impact P3D's ability to run correctly at all. I think I have it all sorted out now. Currently in the process of re-installing ...

New computer = Built, tested, overclocked, tested again, and working! (i7-7700K overclocked to 4.7GHz, GTX 1070, 16GB DDR4-2400, will eventually be 32GB, Win10 Pro 64-bit) P3D V4.1 = Bought and installed! (Minimum FPS of 50-60 with nearly everything maxed. Pleasantly surprised!) ORBX addons (at leas...

Re: New System, same performance???
I appreciate all the input!
Thanks for clearing up the hardware usage. I suspected FSX was CPU bound.
And yes, I will absolutely be moving to P3D in the near future.

New System, same performance???
Hi all. I recently build a new gaming computer, but I am actually confused. I still run FSX: SE (will move to P3D V4 when budget allows), and the overall performance (specifically for FSX) is actually not that different from my old system. With any other game, I'm seeing nearly a 100% improvement in...

Sweet!
You've inspired me to have some adventures of my own in the Cub! I'm currently under way from my home airport of KAPA (Centennial, CO) on my way to KAEJ (Buena Vista, CO) via KCOS and KPUB. Headwind will be my friend here

Re: DTG Flight Sim World...
I purchased it yesterday, and was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly it ran, despite my system being below the minimum spec they recommend. I was still getting max 40fps min 10fps with everything maxed out on my 2gig GTX770. I look forward to development updates and further features and functional...

Hi all, just wanted to catch you up on what I've been up to lately. One word: SCHOOL I've been swamped with school work, mostly from one class, the professor of which I now hate with a passion. I have two tests, and 4 projects ALL DUE ON THE 13th OF APRIL! Needless to say, holy *&$!-buckets As f...

Didn't fly
Airplane went in for maintenance. No one knows why, but it should be ready for a flight tomorrow (Feb 29th).
Until then, I'll just put around in the A2A 172
