Re: C172 Trim Not Correct

Hey everyone, the simple truth of the matter is, you get to a certain point with cockpit building and hardware where you need to learn and its is expected to do x y and z. The expectation is that advanced hardware is used by advanced users for the most part. When you are buying the boards etc they ...

Re: C172 Trim Not Correct

Well, I count at least 4 builders of full pits here (Me, Ed, Boris, a Commanche and another possible B-17 but not counting Richard Banks..he's big enough and ugly enough to look after himself :P ) ) and a large number of "advanced hardware users" . https://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtop...

Re: C172 Trim Not Correct

Oracle, Hook, Killratio, Dudley Thank you for the contributions, Especially helpful was Oracles test and Killratio's Post - Thanks all again. It is rather sad that the A2A software engineers have offered no support or contribution to this thread. I suppose cockpit builders are a minority not worth b...

Re: C172 Trim Not Correct

I have a hardware trim wheel that, with the A2A C172 as it is, trims wayyyyyy too much... There may be a way to adjust the response of your hardware trim wheel. I've never used one, mostly to avoid the problems you've described. Does it send keystrokes to the sim or is it an axis? If you tell us th...

Re: C172 Trim Not Correct

Hello Dudley! I don't know if Andrew is referencing the simulated trim movement ratio vs real world. I still have to try and test the behavior in the sim. I just figured, hey why not grab the airplane and fly since wx was okay and I needed to make a run to the airport anyway to drop off a cleaned c...

Re: C172 Trim Not Correct

In the 72 different type planes I've flown during my life I don't remember ever LOOKING at the trim My experience differs for the sim. I use a button assignment on the controller with a repeat slider full right. I use the same technique I would use in the real plane. I simply apply trim until the p...

Re: C172 Trim Not Correct

OK, I loaded P3Dv2.5 and had a look at the C-172. Andrew737: Do me a favor if you will. Set up the situation you describe. When the aircraft is trimmed properly for the "before" situation, hover the mouse pointer over the trim wheel and record what the tooltip says. Then record it again f...

Re: C172 Trim Not Correct

Interesting Dudley, hmmm, maybe here is where the problem lies? Do you have any more info on this? Kind Regards Andrew I think that might be it Andrew. I recall that the basic trim code in FSX at least was not consistent. We had some trouble getting things the way they should be. People with Saitek...

Re: C172 Trim Not Correct

I can confirm that the aircraft required 2 cranks by hand from top of the wheel to the bottom to trim nose up to maintain 70 knots. Aircraft had 25G of fuel, the pilot at 160 lbs. About 20 lbs in the baggage. Alt was 3500 MSL, temp 31C, baro 3004 empty weight 1733.7 lb MTOW 2550.0 lb Arm 41.476 in ...

Re: C172 Trim Not Correct

Code drives me nuts as well :-)) I'm fairly sure the trim ratio for the sim has been "adjusted" so that the simmer doesn't either have to drag the wheel off the table with the mouse or hold the mouse button for an extended length of time. Could be wrong here but as I remember it this was ...

Re: C172 Trim Not Correct

Can you provide details such as an ATIS? Altitude the manuever was performed at? Exact loading of aircraft including weight and balance and CG? In the meantime I'll go up and test this in my 172SP in an hour and post results. I will test if I need to put in two to three turns off nose up trim to ho...

C172 Trim Not Correct

Hi Guys May I politely request some support here. I have a scenario that does NOT match up even closely to real world flying in a C172 R or S model. I fly and instruct in these planes and have built a Simpit to try and practice my own personal flying & teaching techniques. Real Life Scenario: *S...

Re: Trim Modelling Not Right

Just to be clear, when someone ASKS about something I answer one way. When they TELL me something is wrong and it isn't, I answer another way. I simply can not replicate the incorrect behavior you have stated as being incorrect. I believe I will simply remain with what I said in my answer. If we di...
