Re: Tips on starting in cold weather?

Thanks Scott, I'll give that a go as I'm not having much success in sub zero. Cheers, Rob. Hello Rob, Have you tried to start with mixtures in the Rich position? I found that works pretty well requiring only a few pumps on the primer. Hey Rob, out of interest can the engines auto start with the cre...

Re: Commanche Autopilot - Nav Hold

I found this a while back and stowed it away along with the manuals for the AP and other radios.

Re: Commanche Autopilot - Nav Hold

Hello M_D_F, This seems to be the trait of the Comanche. It will follow a NAV course but you must get it on the radial and following it with heading then engage NAV. And yes, it is rare to get the instruments to follow an ILS approach without it wandering back and forth until you finally just give u...

Re: B-17 Modified Clipboard

 I'm embarrassed about this but I had to update the file
It happens that copy & paste & copy & paste without checking the indexes and not doing a proper testing is not good
Please update to get proper cowl flap positions readout. Link above is updated.

Re: B-17 Carb Ice Issues

Turbos have a huge effect on carb temps. It is a balance between throttles, Intercoolers & Turbos. Sometimes you have to pull turbos back and increase throttles while managing the intercoolers to keep them cool. Carb filters can have an effect on carb temps too but you need to manage them by the boo...

Re: B-17 Modified Clipboard

Wow this is very useful, thanks for sharing! Thank you very much. Glad it's being used. Just a note, during a flight today I noticed some text errors. Some of the text was transparent but only noticeable with the right background behind the window. I have updated the file as well as the download li...

B-17 Modified Clipboard

Salute A2A Flying Fortress Captains As a natural follow-up of my L049 modified clipboard I have been working on this sense the B17 was released for P3D. I think it is all functioning correctly. Please read the < B-17 Modified Clipboard README.txt > file within the package for installation instructio...

Re: B-17 Carb Ice Issues

Hey Roger, This has been an issue since it’s inception. I fly in the northeast, where we have snow for 7 months out of the year, and if I don’t keep turbos on 4+ while starting, within seconds the carbs ice and I can’t start it. As far as a real B-17, I’m not sure how fast they were susceptible to ...

Re: Tips on starting in cold weather?

Sounds just like the trouble I'm having over here. https://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=71895 If the weather is cold and damp I change the weather to warmer, start the engines, then set back to actual weather. I have verified this several times. I can re-create it any time I wish. M...

Re: B-17 Carb Ice Issues

I'm curious if anyone has been able to confirm this issue? My testing is done at Bandon (S05) but that should not matter. Below is the weather I have created to induce icing, no AS used. I can switch to the Connie, P-51, Comanche, etc and ice only forms if engines are running. The B-17 however will ...

Re: L049 Modified Clipboard

Hello Again Connie Pilots,

Today I just discovered that my clipboard was reporting incorrectly on the carburetor icing conditions. I have fixed this and the original link will get you the new clipboard.

Happy New Year

Re: B-17 Carb Ice Issues

Thanks for the reply Alan, I've had AS mess with my sim too. However, this is not an AS issue. I have been working on a modified Crew Report (Shift + 2). I have Carb Ice and Body Ice on it. In order to verify that it is reporting these items I created custom weather using P3Dv4 weather engine. I can...

B-17 Carb Ice Issues

Good day and Happy New Year, Today a couple friends and I decided to go on a bomber mission from Biggin Hill, UK to Peenemunde, Germany. Two of us were in our hardstands for about 20 minutes before attempting to start engines. When ready the engines would not start or would start and die. We tried A...

Re: Making the FE do stuff

Everyone has their own ideas of what an enjoyable flight is. I prefer to manage what I can without over saturating myself. I don't like the way the FE manages the engines or the pressurization. He will run the engines at 230C and that is not good. He seems to concern himself too much with drag and n...
