Stabilator vs Stabilizer in airliners.
Hi all A question if i may. What would be your opinion on why are stabilators not really used on modern airliners (besides the L-1011, why was it used here ?) What are the advantages of a trimmable horizontal stab vs a stabilator for an airliner ? I have my own suspicions but would like to hear your...

Re: Place Holder Aircraft P3D Performance Value
There isn't...and don't change the default startup scenario, you can introduce a lot of problems and bugs when using addon aircraft if you do, many of them rely on it to properly load themselves. A charm of fsx based platforms. When using addon aircraft its best to also disregard default save/load f...

Re: Sim Update 8 for MSFS
There is a new version of airfoillabs 172 for x-plane as well, has quite a few cool things in it. It could scratch the itch until A2A releases a new bird.

Re: C127 tends to pull to the left as I climb after takeoff
If i fly the 172 with just the pilot, in the cruise phase i just burn my left tank until the plane flies straight and then set to both. All controls can then be centralized, minus small corrections for wind and turbulence of course. In the climb right rudder of course realism at full.

Re: What ever happened to...?
Would be cool if we could see a version of their flight schools offerings for msfs or p3d, as i imagine alot of the work is already done ? (I wonder if they have working hangar/failure modules in them, prolly not as that is most likely not a requirement for learning centers....maybe walkarounds ? :) )

Re: Realistic maintenance
From what i know, general aviation has to be dragged kicking and screaming into the modern ways of doing things more efficiently and safely, like in the airlines or other commercial bodies, where alot of maintenance is focused on inspections and fixing things depending on condition, instead of putti...

Re: P47 issues
Did you change your default flight in the menu ? Did you load a flight from a saved flight ? (Guess not from what you said) Did you load an airplane on top of another airplane ? Don't These things do not work without error with addon airplanes. What you want to do every time is always have a default...

Re: Lowest safe rpm for cruise ?
I reckon that irl nobody would like to putter around at 1200 rpm  (also pilots are averse to experiments :) ) maybe if the goal was to stay in the air the longest possible time ? Im wondering if such low rpm would damage the counterweights on the prop in some time ? On the other hand, even ...

Re: Lowest safe rpm for cruise ?
I did a short flight to test a bit, standard atmosphere, 6500 feet, wot, hard lop, all that allowing me to be at max continous manifold pressure and 1800 rpm, the engine seemed to be alright, didn't vibrate, run a bit cooler than when at 2000 rpm, around 7 gph, overall it looked happy :) Also i deci...

Lowest safe rpm for cruise ?
Hi all As the title says, should i really not go any lower than 2000 rpm ? What could be the consequences (prop governor kaputt ? valves sticking ?) I read in some lycoming manuals that it could be operated at 1800 ? Would i be lugging it this way ? Vibrating it to pieces ? Its tempting to run as lo...

Re: Sim Connect question please
I would go first into the programs and uninstall whatever simconnect versions you have, then try again. How is your p3d installed by the way, was it only the client update ? When you are installing the plane, look through all open windows, sometimes the most important window that has something that ...

Re: RPM vs LOP engine smoothness.
Yeah, from what i know, the last bit of range on the lever controls the rpm between 2700-2500 while keeping the throttle at wot. After that both the rpm and throttle are reduced. Im mostly interested in the lack of engine hesitations in a2a planes at aggressive lop and high rpm which, according to t...

RPM vs LOP engine smoothness.
Hi all I watched this interesting video: https://youtu.be/A1fmNFWNHD4?t=2490 from savvy aviation about oversquare operation and there was a part where Mike told a story about a cirrus pilot who always had misfires when operating LOP, turns out he was operating at too high engine rpm, where the fuel/...
