Re: Learning to fly the Connie

The instruments all behave exactly the same in FSX and P3Dv4.5.

Re: Learning to fly the Connie

This is exactly my point. The autopilot (top) will turn the plane to match the gyro compass (bottom) heading, but the gyro compass heading does not match the magnetic compass.
Adjust the gyro heading (bottom) to match the magnetic compass and the plane will fly exactly where you want it to go.

Re: Learning to fly the Connie

You did not sync the gyro compass. Yes you should have done it on the ground, but you need to do it in the air also. In previous videos you have looked up at the magnetic compass and pointed at the heading with your mouse, and then looked down at the gyro compass knob and rotated it until it read th...

Re: Learning to fly the Connie

The magnetic compass is at the top of the centre post of the front windscreens. Yes the gyro compass is the bottom row of degrees controlled by the knob underneath. The autopilot heading will turn the plane until it matches the gyro heading degrees. The AP doesn't know if the gyro compass degrees ar...

Re: Learning to fly the Connie

@25:40 The compass shows about 285. This means you didnt have the gyro compass sync'd. Just as I suspected. Yes you had set the autopilot heading as 164 but not the gyro compass to match the magnetic compass. Everytime you start a new flight and every 15 minutes in the air you need to sync the gryo ...

Re: A question about the Lockheed Constellation

My personal favourite is the B377, but it is only for FSX. The Connie is much newer in the A2A lineup.
They are both wonderful aircraft.

Re: A question about the Lockheed Constellation

Plus the B377 completely empty weighed about 85,000 lbs where the Connie fully loaded weighed 92,000 lbs. The B377 is a much bigger plane.

Re: A question about the Lockheed Constellation

Come on Jaques. You're on the 10m high dive platform and the pool bottom has Connie written all over it. :D

Re: inflight emergency

These warnings would be triggered by total fuel remaining and not minimum for any tank?
Fuel tanks should be balanced at the landing phase we know, but the lowest tank shouldn't be the trigger.

Re: inflight emergency

5% or less would be reasonable Scott. 5% equates to about 30 minutes fuel?

Re: Recommendations for New Computer

Hey Daryl, I think the store Mike is referring to is PLE Computers. There is also a store in Belmont on Albany hwy near Diesel Motors. I have used them for years and i find them to be very good. No dramas over 3 computers, some components and 10 years. I had to update mine 12 months ago. 9900K, 1T M...

Discussion on Fuel Tank Switching - Procedures and Safety

In another thread the question was raised why the B377 had a limit of 2 engines taking fuel from the manifold, so it got me thinking. I can't recall a thread combining all the knowledge of real world operations and safety thoughts regarding operating fuel tank selectors. We have a wide variety of A2...
