Re: Thoughts on this checklist?

This would take another page, but there are some items in the walk around that are implied, but not specified. For example: Lower the flaps Turn on the master battery. Check fuel levels. Turn on all of the lights and the pitot heat. Walk around all the points with lights, make sure they are lit, re...

Re: Thoughts on this checklist?

I'll take any and all comments. Thanks! The engine clearing thing actually comes from the Focke-Wulf/Piaggio P.149 (the real one) with the GO-480. But I can remove that. Same with the land under power. In that case, you never want the wind to push the prop as it's geared and that can damage the gear...

Re: Thoughts on this checklist?

Could you review the comment in the Descent section? Clear the engine approx. every 30 sec by opening the throttle slowly to prevent fouling. Avoid cylinder head temperature drops below 100 °C I've updated the Go Around section and made some other small edits for clarity. I'll add the second sheet i...

Re: Thoughts on this checklist?

Good catch on the gear up. I left prop forward off because it already should be, from final approach, to save space. I like to keep these to 2 pages and laminate them so I only have 1 sheet to carry around. Soft field would push it to three. But I could see adding another sheet for special stuff, an...

Re: Commanche 250 Steam Gauges

You can get the MSFS airport and VOR frequencies from the nav map. V key I think, or, in the buttons at the top choose the map.

Uploaded the checklist to Flightsim.to. Let me know if you find any errors.

You're welcome to host the file here, too.

Re: Noticing Cylinder 5 and 6 running hot

I was climbing out of KFIT today, and it wasn't easy to keep 5 cool as I climbed to 7,500 on my way to KIWI, live weather. Monitor showed temp in the red but I didn't catch the actual temp. But I had leaned it out, so I pushed a bit more mixture in, and it cooled off in a few minutes, I was able to ...

Re: Carb Ice..

Carb ice can form even without clouds. Just need a bit of moisture in the air, and the temp in the throttle venturi to get below the dewpoint. I got some carb ice just as I was approaching 2B2 last night (in the A2A Comanche). In my case, there was a bit of haze... but, still... Loved that it worked...

Re: Something in the engine air intake

I suppose that sort of introduces a request... Granted, not much you can do with a 3-blade propeller, but, with 2 bladers, I'll rotate it vertical after parking (making sure the magnetos are off, mixture pulled, etc...) so birds don't get it all, um, dirty. Would be nice to be able to spin the prope...

Re: Thoughts on this checklist?

Oh, and since the POH says MTOW/MGW is 2800 lbf, I went with that. I understand Scott has it at 3000 lbf because the tip tanks add 200 lbs of lift?
So, I'm confused there, too.

Edit: And, thanks to my asking, I just realized I should get the Empty weight from the sim

Re: Thoughts on this checklist?

Regarding the landing gear operating speed, I think the confusion comes from the fact that at least some POHs include two speeds for V LO : the actual limit of 150 mph CAS (or 148 mph IAS), and the "recommended" 125 mph. -Esa Ahh... I knew I saw it somewhere in the POH, but I kept checkin...

Re: Thoughts on this checklist?

I've accidentally skipped steps too many times, lol, even with a checklist in my hand. The checklist is my life!, and sooo important to me. Thank goodness none of those skips were life or airplane threatening. It's still scary, when, for instance, you don't notice that that Piper top door lock didn'...

Re: Thoughts on this checklist?

Check the Max Landing gear operation speed you have on Downwind. Manual says 125mph max operation. Currently says max. 148mph I think that's a typo in his manual. He says it can be lowered at 150 mph in the "Normal Procedures Explained / Approach and Landing", and the POH lists both V_LE ...

Re: Thoughts on this checklist?

That's the plan. I wanted to get it reviewed first and find all the errors and make sure the order was correct from people who know the plane. One thing some people pointed out... Scott shuts the engine down with the Master Switch in the checklist in the manual. The POH, like all planes I've ever fl...
