Re: Question on controllers for someone using FS2020
How'd you get on Dudley, when not in VR it is a little annoying for me also that the pan hat on joysticks isnt used for panning in 2020 unlike every other flight, race and space sim on the market lol   cheers, Lewis Hi Lewis; I decided to hold off on 2020 for a while yet. After much tho...

Re: Navigation
The navigation in Europe was a piece of cake compared to the mental gymnastics needed by Naval Aviators far out at sea on long range flights to enemy targets and back home again. A LOT of math involved over water. In Europe they used a lot of pilotage and dead reckoning coupled with some basic beaco...

Re: Question on controllers for someone using FS2020
What I would like to do ideally is to be able to use the hat switch on the Warthog to pan left and pan right for looking outside during landing approaches. For example before the base to final turn for turn accuracy and position. I would also like to be able to assign a toggle switch on the Hog to s...

Re: Optimum Runup Settings Bonanza
Generally speaking after start, 40deg c is fine for a target to taxi. I would lean back until you get a bit of roughness then advance just enough to smooth out the engine. I would also add an item to your runup checklist to make sure the mixture is set to either full rich or whatever setting is need...

Re: About Type Ratings
Are the FAA type ratings for the 172 and the 182 the same and only requiring a check ride to qualify on one from the other? Thanks I've been retired as a CFI for quite some time now but unless things have changed I believe for the 172 all you need is your private certificate listing "Airplane singl...

Re: Prop animation
Want to ask if i am correct with observation that something is not right with propeller animation. When in cruise with throttle set and locked i see that propellers animation change constantly. It looks like either rpm or blades pitch oscillate all the time. Any thoughts ? Prop disk antimation is s...

Re: Coordinated Turns
Coordinated turn is not that hard, i said that during turn and big rudder deflection plane was turning not smoothly but in the jerky and jumping way, with smaller rudder deflection turn was smooth but not fully coordinated. Check your controller settings and make sure you have no axis with double a...

Re: suddenly running out of fuel: harmful for the engine?
Hey guys, because the P-40 has no gauges for the reserve and the aux tank we're prone to run out fuel temporary. I know it's a question of timing and managing the fuel tank system to avoid that. Anyway: Does it harm the engine if you run out of fuel and the propeller drives the engine until you swi...

Re: Question on controllers for someone using FS2020
Hey Dudley, yes you can, have a look here at the MSFS forum. I haven't tried it myself as I use TrackIR but at least it's a "how to".. Sry, that guy is horrible to listen to, unprepared for what to do and terrible sound recording but at least it will get you where you want. https://forums.flightsim...

Question on controllers for someone using FS2020
Got a question; In MSFS2020, can you set up the view hat switch on your controller to pan horizontally the way you can use the hat in FSX? Reason I need to know is that I find using the mouse to move around the cockpit and view outside the aircraft an immersion negative. It also requires moving the ...

Re: Thinking about p3dv5
What exactly do you mean by 'performance'? My guess would 'FPS' right? FPS is not a measure of 'performance'. Look out of the side window and ask yourself, is what I'm seeing passing under my wing smooth. If that's what you're aiming for then P3Dv5 avec hot fixes is for you. No question. So go get ...

Re: A2A Aerostar Emergency Landing
Wow, that's immense. At my local field I was about to retrieve one of my 172s from the avionics shop last week and a 210 RG unfortunately went down the runway belly first. I was in my boss's car and witnessed the whole thing happen and kept saying "Surely he's going around? Nope... he's not.... Thi...
