Re: Engine RPM mismatch after startup

One tip on slewing. Unless there is absolutely NO input from a joystick axis you will be unable to slew accurately. What you should do is go to the Controls page, select Slew Mode, then REMOVE all entries related to your joystick. Instead, use your NUM PAD to move in slew mode. You can them slew ver...

Re: Sperry AP pitch bug keybinds.

You should not need these 2 lines: opps....EDITED BELOW ! 16=P1,29,CM1:120,0 -{Macro A2A_L049: L:ApElevatorControl inc}- 17=P1,28,CM1:121,0 -{Macro A2A_L049: L:ApElevatorControl dec} Looking at those lines again after I wrote the rest of this post below I see the problem. The above lines are using y...

Re: Engine RPM mismatch after startup

The implementation is simply to allow for the use of a GPU since no onboard system exists. In real life the FE or pilot would signal to personal on the ground to connect the GPU and apply power. That is how it was done on the C-121J's(L1049's) that I crewed on back in 66/67. The door to the right of...

Re: Sperry AP pitch bug keybinds.

The MCRO files are simply text files with the 'MCRO' extension that informs FSUIPC of the existence of L:Vars...the Local Variables present in the aircraft gauges so that they may be used to read or write to the functions via FSUIPC. Here is a sample of portions of my L-049 MCRO file: [MACROS] 1=L:W...

Re: Engine RPM mismatch after startup

Initially there was a 'GPU' switch on the FE panel but it was removed as the 'GPU', Ground Power Unit, is external to the aircraft. You still have control to turn it on or off through one of the pop-up menus. It should be shut down after Engines 3 & 4 are started and before any attempt to start 1 or...

Re: Sperry AP pitch bug keybinds.

I use FSUIPC to map the AP elevator function to two switched on one of my Saitek throttle quads. I define the functions in my L049 MCRO file: 120=L:ApElevatorControl=INC 121=L:ApElevatorControl=DEC And I am then able to select those functions in the FSUIPC control assignment menu. The assignment loo...

Re: Reverse Thrust

I have small Lua scripts that I use to enter reverse thrust and exit it. To enter I send F1 once and F2 14 times. To exit, I send F3 15 times. You need to send the F3 key to bring the throttles forward out of the reverse thrust condition before you touch the throttle to continue taxiing. I think tha...

Re: Sunday, July 5 MP Flight - Cape Town and Environs

The default FSX scenery for FAYP is a barren background and no parking. Just a runway. Here are a couple of scenery Downloads for FYAP I found on Avsim. FSX versions but appear to work fine in P3DV4. The runway is in a slightly different location between these two files. I am going to use the larger...

Re: June 28th MP Flight - Operation Vittles

I flew the inbound leg again for about the 4th or 5th time. But this time I used the approach into the right hand pattern. I was down to 2000' and about 130 knts IAS as I entered. Made all the turns with a bit of overshoot but was on the altitude marks as I arrived at each turn. Smooth ILS approach ...

Re: engineers GPU missing start run switch

What is the point of all this?? If you use the Controls menu to activate the GPU function you will see the GPU cart appear on the left side of the aircraft. No 'switch in the cockpit' will do this realistically. There is no APU installed in the Connie. Ground power is supplied by the external GPU. P...

Re: June 28th MP Flight - Operation Vittles

After studying the info supplied by Gernot and Ratty I revised my flight plan to conform to that historical data. The biggest change was the inbound pattern at EDDI which involves a fly over of NDB PLANTER (DIP) and subsequent turns and descents for a right hand pattern to Rwy 27L. Here are the link...

Re: June 28th MP Flight - Operation Vittles

After looking over the information supplied by Gernot I created a modified flight plan to allow ample time to slow and descend from 10K to approach altitude to Rwy 27L. Seeing that the corridors and 20 miles wide and the 'circular safe zone around EDDI has a radius of ~17 NM this allows for enough s...

Re: P3D V4 Flak effects

Half the FLAK bursts will have a 'flash'. I limited the numbers of that effect to prevent
an overload of the display.

Several of the 91st pilots are now flying P2DV5 as well as V4.5 and the FLAK works fine for them.
