Re: Boost your MSFS performance AND make it look better!

Just FYI, DLSS is *not* recommended by most developers as it causes a lot of shadowing and lights especially to not show up properly.

Re: MSFS

MSFS Wow! Is that garbage or what? And the ATC? Every time it says "tree" instead of "3", I want to punch my monitor. An interesting and unique take for sure. I think that's about all I can say about this post. As was stated above my reply - "Tree" is the *correct* way...

FlightSimExpo - Anyone going?

Looked around to see if anyone had started a thread and didn't see anything, so figured I'd take the plunge. Being a relatively new resident of the Houston area, I was happy to hear we'd be the host so I will be visiting some, meeting with some of my virtual acquaintances for the first time, and was...

Re: We need something new in the name for Accu-Sim

We have referred to the newly created physics engine in house as "Merlin." Maybe "Accu-Sim II, Powered by Merlin". Merlin Aerodynamics, Merlin AI, etc. Merlin? Like the wizard from sword in the stone because it's so magical? As in the Rolls-Royce Merlin. :D I like the idea of Ac...

Re: Dihedral

I would suggest if you're having to constantly apply aileron correction you check your control deadzones for both the aileron and rudder axis and make sure you're actually not putting in "phantom" inputs first. If that's not the case, then check your rudder trim setting. The Cherokee is qu...

Re: Making the switch

FS2020 has become my "fun" sim. I use it when I just want to fly around a bit, relax, and not feel the need to follow procedures. When I'm flying for my VA or doing "serious" flightsimming (like practicing for real flights or checkrides) I use P3D. Why? Because it's the mature si...

Re: "Downfall: The Case Against Boeing"

Back during the 767's test program, the FAA was much more directly involved in flight testing and certification during the process in numbers involved. Nowadays, the FAA isn't as directly involved, but theoretically, they are still looking over all the data after the flights and before issuing the f...

Re: "Downfall: The Case Against Boeing"

In the Ethiopian accident, one of the BEA's updates stated that the crew had been issued the manual update, had reviewed it, and signed (electronically) that they had completed the training module for the differences that was delivered via their company issued iPads (aka EFBs). I believe there was s...

Re: "Downfall: The Case Against Boeing"

Also, just recently watched the linked interview with Eric "Rick" Abell, a guy with a storied history within the DOD as a Project Engineer. He tells a lot of (mostly true) stories of some of the issues he was part of over the years. There's a little editing done in his tellings, but from m...

Re: "Downfall: The Case Against Boeing"

The thing I come back to on how Boeing handled it is that they didn't make clear enough that the system had a problem that they'd been incompetent in managing oversight and implementation of (i.e. it shouldn't have ever been an issue had it been implemented properly) *and* that the *training* of the...

Re: "Downfall: The Case Against Boeing"

Boeing has a contract with the US Air Force to deliver a new fleet of 767/KC-46 air refueling tankers. Originally, the US Air Force put out contract specifications so that both Airbus and Boeing could compete with one another with the best design. Airbus exceeded the Air Force's specifications whil...

Re: 5G Effects

Bandwidth is why. Using the higher frequency part of the band gets more capacity and more speed. It’s cited a lot as why the US went higher in frequency. How do they reason this? There are several of lower frequency bands supporting the (maximum) 100 MHz channel bandwidths. Or are all of these alre...

Re: 5G Effects

What I said was that phones have been being manufactured and sold that may or may not be locked into the 5G specification that was being rolled out. Sorry if I wasn't clear on what I meant by that statement. I doubt the phones were designed in such a way as to be unable to operate in the entire C-B...

Re: 5G Effects

@AKar - Oh, I don't disagree that the design sucks. Don't get me wrong there. But the problem is that "Because Aviation", fixing it takes years (like 3-5 on average). The FAA and the Airlines asked the FCC to delay implementation to give them time to fix it (remember, the report of there b...
