Re: P3D???

My question how is p3d different or better than fsx? as from all the youtube reviews I have seen it seems to be just a "pimped" up version of fsx. How good are the physics do you get crashes like you used to in fsx? how much money will I have to invest to make this sim to make it look decent? is th...

Re: RTX 3070 will kill a RTX 2080 Ti for $500 ???

The 2080Ti is now installed. In initial tests I saw a 10-20 fps improvement over the 1070Ti when testing at KLAX ("gray and rainy" weather, medium terrain and shadow settings, minimum traffic, ORBX California, default Maule aircraft). Maximum fps achieved was 70 with average around 45 fps. I did not...

Re: RTX 3070 will kill a RTX 2080 Ti for $500 ???

My question, as a person with a 1080 running P3Dv5 at 40-60FPS on mostly high settings at 1080p, would upgrading to a 3070 make any significant difference? Would there be any point if I don't plan to upgrade to 4k? In theory the 1070Ti delivers a few frames less than the 1080; and the 2080Ti a few ...

Re: RTX 3070 will kill a RTX 2080 Ti for $500 ???

The smart money says to wait for the 3070 ... but without any certainty of when I can actually have a unit in my hands I just ordered an EVGA 2080Ti to install ahead of delivery on my Reverb G2.

Re: FSX Gold to FSX 2020 transition

Good post, Hook. I just built a computer in anticipation of MSFS 2020 but, like Russellwest, I went to P3D instead. I'll see how the MSFS develops. I've gone to VR almost exclusively now so that is my main reason for holding off on MSFS. P3Dv5's VR implementation isn't perfect but I like that I can ...

Re: FSX Gold to FSX 2020 transition

For questions one and two I believe the simple answer is "No." Going deeper, A2A Simulations has not released a B-377 for MSFS 2020 (as you already know) or any aircraft yet for the new sim. Scott said they'd look into converting some of the current FSX/P3D aircraft as the company moves forward -- b...

Re: Is there a specific forum location for MSFS 2020?

If there was a new story of Lara Croft who suddenly became a pilot and they named it Big Props it wouldn‘t be Tomb Raider xyz anymore 😝 MSFS continues to be about piloting airplanes though, and has enough FSX code within it that it could be considered the eleventh entry in the Microsoft series. Als...

Re: Newbie

Just one question: have the A2A team ever considered making a model of that old CoF favourite the Curtiss Jenny? It's actually the only default plane I can't bear to give up. With its cantankerous OX-5 engine, singing rigging wires and imperceptible rate of climb it would make a really great seat-o...

Re: Still Proudly Behind the Times!

I've re-evaluated after removing UTX from my FSX. GEX and SimTech land class works okay for my local area, and the bonus is I can properly use my Scenery Builders scenery of KGTF in FSX.

I just installed P3D v5 and I hope it is a worthwhile upgrade.

Re: Still Proudly Behind the Times!

And I am not getting rid of my FSX either - plan is to have all my ORBX in P3D and all my GEX/UTX in FSX. I planned on going that route with my new PC build. But after installing a clean FSX:SE and adding GEX, UTX and a land class, I'll opine that some things are best remembered fondly and never re...

Re: Will the Aerostar 600 be available for FSX?

FSX and P3Dv4/5 can exist on the same computer. So can FSX and the new MSFS. You're really only limited by hard drive space and even that is upgradable.

Re: Building a new flight sim PC

My plan is to get the build up and running and then add an SSD or two. And/or maybe a 1TB or 2TB NVME.
