Re: Modified flight model

Just be aware that a B17 DOES require a considerable amount of rudder entering and exiting a turn. Flying a B17 or any plane that size and made during that period was and remains a physical experience for the pilot. Our flight models reflect this factor of accuracy and realism. Re: Sunday, December 19 - Hokkaido and the Kuril Islands

Incidentally, my only reason for choosing Historic weather is to make sure I get day weather in the day, and night weather in the night, since there can be significant differences between the two. This^ You want the misty, foggy, cool mornings and then clouds building and clearing visibility as the...

Re: Great video picking apart MSFS2020's flight modeling

Great video indeed. MSFS is still arcade grade stuff as far as I am concerned. Have they fixed the spool time on piston engines yet? Not sure about "spool time on piston engines"... isn't spooling something jet engines do? But JustFlight developers have expressed some of the diffic...

Re: The impossible turn

Doug makes salient points here about the so called "Impossible Turn". I would note strongly that not once but twice during this film Doug mistakenly states to "pull the mixture" when he meant to say "pull the throttle". I make note of this because the first time he mis...

Re: Bug Spalt

That is a good point. PMDG has very pronounced bug 'splats' on their 737 NGX - it would be cool to see A2A incorporate that some day. Even onto the wings with a drag penalty and the ability to clean them off maybe. :D

Re: Finished Repaints

Since the advent of MFS I haven't used P3D once! I missed the Texan (as I may have mentioned elsewhere) but I didn't really appreciate how much until I jumped in and took these screens. An absolute work of genius! The T-6 that is. A couple of things: 1: Reno racers tend to be smothered in sponsor s...

I am partial to the B-24A that is still flying, and can get them all the access and flights that they need if they ever go that route. :D

B-29 works too

Re: Prop Overspeed On Takeoff?

The two present day B-17s I know about use 41 - but that is without the turbos and per the people that built the engines.

Re: Prop Overspeed On Takeoff?

Hi Curt, it is possible to take the props over 2500 with full throttle but I think you need the turbo selector set to “10”. Is this where you have your turbo selector or do you have it limited at “8”? “... For short field takeoff, the manifold pressure may be set to the maximum war emergency settin...

Re: Prop Overspeed On Takeoff?

Have you calibrated the turbo boost control? See the manual pg 69 & 70. Setting the throttle to max and RPM to the takeoff value adjust the setting to achieve 46" MP. Then your RPM should be limited to that take off setting. That should get you closer to the proper setting. Paul http://www...

Prop Overspeed On Takeoff?

Hello, On takeoff in P3Dv4.5 - my engines over-rev the redline by 150 or so RPM to 2650 or so when I am handling the RPM, with the 4 prop levers all the way 'up' fwd/high RPM. I have never heard of an airplane that would have the high RPM limit of the governor set above red-line and it is kind of an...

Re: How I taxi the B-17 with a single lever throttle

Cool. I was thinking of editing this too. Even with more than one throttle I think it would be very unrealistic to taxi. Trying to use differential throttle now to start a turn, you can be sitting there with full power on number 1 or 4, and the thing barely moves/turns. The real one would only take ...
