IMO, the BOB SOW will just be an improved IL2 graphics wise and perkups for the Online users. I wouldn't bet on it, because they will shoot themselves in the foot with a 88mm if they fail to rectify some of the more egregious shortcomings of their AI - and I'm pretty sure they know it. Have you che...

The "e" model in Il-2 will practically never stall no matter how many g's you put on it which is totally inaccurate to any test data/pilots reports I have read on the 109. Sorry, but that's not true. I just tried the IL-2 v4.08m E-4 out, and it does indeed depart quite violently if one pu...

from memory they seem about the same, except on landing. Yeah, they're feeling pretty similar to me too - provided that you adjust those controllers properly in IL-2 - except that IL-2 has a tad better prop and gyro effects modelling IMHO. You really have to pay attention to your rudder trim in IL-...

...but this isn't what really happens in IL2 where you don't need to push hard in most of the aircraft in order to exibit unforgiving behaviours. As I said before, this is largely dependent on how you set up your controllers. I f.ex. seldomly stall them out nowadays myself unless I really get hamfi...

Interesting discussion this here. Real WWII fighter AC were unstable by design to a degree to my knowledge too, because that was what made them manouverable - and YES, at the same time most of them had some dihedral as well, because at those power and weight levels they would have been most likely u...

My $0.002: Evaluating the FMs solely on an "I-feel" basis is just opinions and little else. This , however, is what some RL aerobatic pilots say about the flight modelling of various well-known PC simulators out there. An interesting read up to the point where some asshat just HAD to jump ...

Well, one of the most important things with IL-2 is to calibrate and adjust your controller(s) correctly. If you're f.ex. using sensitivities of 100 or thereabouts all across the board - like some do - you WILL inadvertently stall the planes if you start throwing the stick around! And even milder se...

...would be that the aircraft woudn't recover at time from the dive (due to compressibility on the control surfaces). Which is pretty much how they behave now in the newest version (v4.071m). Which version did you try? you'll spin right away most of the times (and almost without any warning) That's...

And oh yeah, I was a bit vague and/or misleading up there. There's of course much more as regards propeller and engine effects than a mere gyroscope whirling around at the front affecting how your plane behaves in-flight, i.e. power settings affecting trim and steering is actually a product of at le...

In BoB2 gyroscopic effect is very big - planes are more unstable then in IL2. I dont know which is more realistic - i think in Bob2 gyro effect is little too big. Well, it depends on what we're talking about. The BoB2 planes do gyrate about more wildly when you're suddendly forcing them into a new ...

Hmmm... Well IL-2's and BoB II's flight modelling isn't that different IMHO (I fly "full switch" only, i.e. w/ maximum realism settings turned on). The planes are somewhat torque-y in both so you have to put some boot in when taking off, f.ex., but the amount feels roughly the same to me i...

Thanks for your help guys :) Yes, the tempwp.log file is there, but the game's own uninstaller doesn't seem to understand anything about it. And it's the same thing if I go to the Control Panel / Add or remove programs applet, i.e. it just complains of a missing install.log and then quits. But hey g...

OK, did the following: * Junked the old installation. * Cleaned the registry. * Re-installed into C:\Battle of Britain II (the default location) instead of C:\Program Files\Battle of Britain II where my previous installation was. * Re-downloaded the v2.05 patch & re-installed it. * No install.lo...

We're in the clear Sirs, got them solved.

1) My graphic settings were somehow fecked -> played around w/ them -> sea is OK now.

2) Don't have to re-install at this point now that we're sorted, so we'll just ignore the missing file for now.

Thanks for your input gents :)

A coupla probs if U don't mind awfully

S! gents. Why is it that: * My sea is all white, i.e. has no texture whatsoever & * I cannot uninstall prior to re-installing because of a missing install.log? Any ideas guys? Please lend a bloke a hand here  PS. v2.05 rox anyways 8) ;) and the sounds are just great. Gotta love that DB roar...
