Re: Credits - blank, empty thread location for future use
The first section here is a direct quote of the credits as listed in
the Battle of Britain II patch update v2.04 manual, but it contains
the full previous history. Subsequent sections are appended to this
post with each successive patch release. If you've ever contributed
to the BDG, your name should be here:
* Rowan Software *
The creators of original Rowan’s Battle of Britain released in 2000:

Battle of Britain 2 “Wings of Victoryâ€Â, original release 2005
Note: the names listed here include both the staff and contractees of
Shockwave, plus some of the unpaid volunteers of the BDG, which is
detailed further in the next section.

A talented freeware group who continued to develop Rowan’s Battle of
Britain for more than three years after its release. Battle of Britain 2
“Wings of Victory†development started with the excellent work of BDG.

This manual is a compilation from numerous sources without which it
would have been impossible to put together. This included extensive
material from several previous game version manuals (BGD V.98, BDG
V.99, The Battle of Britain II Wings of Victory manuals); contributions
from the community from the many informative posts at the Shockwave
BoBII forums, contributions from BDG members and the Devs and a
small amount of new material from Borton and SeaVee.

There was no manual update for 2.07, but I found credits for this
patch in the release notes post buried here on the back pages of
the general forum. I think they are relatively accurate, though
their brevity makes me suspect we may have overlooked some
folks:
Updates to exe - Buddye
Single Pilot Campaign (Beta) - Borton, Tako_Kichi, & Heinkill for this excellent 28 page guide
Updated Flight Models - (FMs) Blue Six and flybywire
Updated Terrain - Testerchild, PV, HH,
Updated Terrain Textures & Placements - Rummy, Stickman, GlobalExplorer, Pat Pattle, Cellinsky, Bader
Updated Multiskin - Bader, Maususer and Redband
Version 2.08 Acknowledgements:
There was an update to the manual issued for 2.08, but it had
the credits copied from v2.06, so the ones from the 2.08 release
notes post here are somewhat more accurate, but are probably
still incomplete:
Coders- Buddye, Osram, Eric
Flight Model (FM)- Blue Six
Models: Creation, conversion- Ben, Geoff, Simon. Testing- Bader
Textures- Stickman, Redband, Bader
Landscape- Stiz, PV, Stickman, Bader
Manual Update: Full key command reference and Complex engine management mouse-to-keyboard conversion instructions (Appendix H) - CPS Bomber
Testing/General- Trumper, Borton, Tako_Kichi, chumleigh, Rummy, Heinkill, Hard_Sarge, Bader.. and, as ever, Scott, for allowing us to camp out here and general support.
...I knew there was something major missing. The guys who write the text are so
damn self-effacing, the main creator of the 2.08 manual left his own name out
of everything, so let me quote a post I found of Buddye's, where he properly
delivers credit for the 2.08 manual, which is where we finally produced a manual
that was everything you might want it to be:
"This BDG'er took control and stepped up to the base and hit a home run. He was able to complete the following:
1. Added the Single Player Campaign (Chaper 4 section C)
2. Added CP_BOMBER's Key Description Document (Appendix H)
3. Updated the BDG.txt (Appendix A)
4. Gave the Users Manual a fresh new look and cover (just wonderful)
5. Many other edits and updates
A big Texas Thanks to our leader on the 2.08 Users Manual (over 400 pages) and the best User's Manual in Flight Sim History, Richard "PineTree" Lloyd."
Also, for 2.08, we got an updated Blenheim, for which the following text applies:
Among the models Geoff provided, the vastly upgraded Blenheim
which appeared in 2.08, which was based on a model created by
members of the MS CFS community, he made this observation:
"If this gets used ultimately in a customer release, we need to add a
credit and a thank you to the following CFS folks:
Greg Law, Richard Mason, Nigel Dickinson."
They graciously provided a BoB era skin for the model, as well!
Version 2.09 Acknowledgements:
Again, no manual update, so these credits come from the
release notes post here on the forum:
Coders- Buddye, Osram
Flight Model (FM)- Blue Six
Models: Creation, conversion- Ben, Geoff, Simon, Condor (Greg)
Textures- Ben, Bader, Nigel Dickinson, John Whelan
Landscape- PV, Bader, Stickman
Guides/Illustrations- Stickman
Testing/General- Trumper, Borton, alexcraig, Hylander_1715, Prem Holdaway, chumleigh, Heinkill, Mraah
and, as ever, Scott, for allowing us to camp out here and general support.
Patch v2.09 came out in January 2009. Shortly before this, we started on
some major upgrades to the ground objects. Geoff ("GeoffW123"), who provided
much help with 3D models, devised fantastic tools to allow painless placement of
damageable 3D objects (unlike the "ghost" ObjectAdds ones) without the immense
hand-entry bookkeeping required by the Rowan process which had pretty much
precluded their use til then.
At the same time, "Scoobared", who needs mention here, expended heroic quantities
of effort planting ground objects across much of southern England, providing farms
and trees to enliven the landscape. These appeared I think first in 2.09,
and many more in 2.10 and 2.11.

it seems the manual editors, being the humble sorts they were,
listed all the other folks and their activities, but failed to include
a credit for themselves. I know that first PineTree did an update
which was originally aiming for 2.09 but got delayed, then Fred
"Heinkill" Williams was much involved with tidying it up for 2.10,
and adding the multiplayer content, as was AlexCraig, but I don't
know for certain who else - Prem Holdaway, Tako Kichi perhaps.

Re: Credits - blank, empty thread location for future use
Thanks PV, reading this brings back so many memories for me. One name I did not see was a Campaign coder Rowan's BOB, El Fanto.
It is hard to believe that I have worked as a BDG member on Rowan's BOB from 2003 to 2005 and BOBII from 2005 -2011 with memories of both task successes and failures. I have really enjoyed my BOB hobby and I happy to be a member of our ageing BDG.
I hope others can pitch in identifying names of contributors that were lost to the BDG's history.
