It strikes me that the plane has very little torque at take-off, much less than the FSX version, and less than I would expect on the basis of flight reports I read. Is this correct?

Hi

I just bought Firepower last night and love it. (Thanks!)

I was wondering if there will be a way for existing Firepower owners to get the new plane? Maybe a dowload option?

Finally got my copy of the Powerpack!
For some obscure reason, the package was sent back to Shockwave without reaching me.
Thanks for sending it again, Scott!

I just took the Firepower P-51D for a short flight and I must say that my jaw dropped to my keyboard!
This is the most amazing aircraft I ever flew in CFS3!!!
I love it for exactly the same reasons I love the WOP P-51D/H for FS9.
No other plane gives me this feeling of really being up there.
Like the way the magnificent engine sounds change with the slightest adjustement of throttle or propellor pitch.
The reactions to stick, rudder and throtlle are very smooth and extremely believable to such a degree I never did think was possible in CFS3.
It does not feel like CFS3, it feels like FS9 and WOP.
A dream coming true.
Stalls, spins, sideslips, it's all there.

I must confirm Stickshaker's remarks though:
- wheelbrakes do not function
- tailwheel is always locked, Shift-L to unlock does not work
- these two combined make decent ground handling completely impossible, please fix!
- torque at take-off is a lot less than what I'm used to in FS9

So...
When are you going to convert the next WOP aircraft to CFS3?
I 'll have my wallet ready. :D

The CFS3 P-51 is excellent! It is the CFS Mustang that you always wanted to have. She looks and flies excellent, although I only did a few circuits so far. But, Scott, if you are reading this: the brakes do not work. And there is neither a steerable tailwheel not the possibility to lock the tailwheel, not even by holding the stick back. Or am I doing something wrong? But these details do not distract from the overall beauty of the plane. I hope we will get some repaints!

Looks like we forgot that CFS3 sets brake power in the .air file rather than the aircraft.cfg file when we ported this one over from FS9. But the tailwheel lock is enabled and the tailwheel is set to be fully-castoring, just like the FS9 and FSX versions. Scott has the corrected .air file so the brakes update will be along presently. Your tailwheel lock should work just fine, though.

Can I edit the file myself while I'm waiting for an official update?

I'll look forward to the fix as well. Oh, and would you mind porting over the P-47 into CFS3 as well?

Thanks so much! :D

Does the file in the zip have the correct name? It's called p51d.air and it doesn't overwrite anything. The .air file that is already in the FP_P51d folder is named p_51dna.air.

Should I rename the update, or is was the .air file from the Wings of Power version put in the zip by accident?

The update is excellent news BUT the Mustang keeps exploding when I select it. And when I click the ‘fly’ button in Quick Combat she explodes again. I tried deleting the bdp file but to no avail…. Btw Skycat, I renamed the update.

Something appears to not be right here. I'm waiting to hear back from a few people.

Thanks, Scott. No hurry. We can fly the Mustang with the present airfile. But I thought I had missed something.

Hello Scott, any news on the airfile? It should make a nearly perfect CFS3 plane perfect.

Hello Scott, now that the B-17 is out, do you have time to sort out the airfile issue? I still would like to enjoy the P-51 as it was meant to be.
