Hi Pelican72,

Thanks for your efforts. The screenie looks great!

I have not yet actually downloaded the files but based on the file size it looks like they are only the landmap2 files?

If that is correct they do not include the "fartiles" batch files.

Refer again to this thread: http://shockwaveproductions.com/forum/v ... php?t=6671

Then send a PM to Stickman for him to provide you with an .exe and instructions on how to create the fartiles batch files using your terrain. That way you can offer the full terrain mods of both the nearer and far tiles.

Thanks again for this. I expect a wave of new terrain mods to be coming down the road for BoB2!!!

Pelican_72,

I tried them, nice work. :)

I also made a FarTiles.bin batch that works with these.
I did not change any of your work before doing this.

http://s22.quicksharing.com/v/9376036/P ... s.rar.html

---------------

Some Notes, on modifying the Landmaps2 files:

1. When assembling a Landmap2 mod, only include the .dds files that you modified.
No need to include the old .x8 files or the BLANK.dds.
Adding the "Récapitulatif des textures terrain" is OK, and a help to other modders that wish to tweak your nice work.

2. BoB2 still does not use MipMaps, so when saving to DXT (.dds)
do not use MipMaps.
MipMaps only make the files larger, and do nothing else in game.

3. (Now here is my critique)
- img0022 and img0024 should be small village textures, with fields, etc.
- img0023 should be suburban (mostly houses)
or small towns (large ville as per France?)
- img0025 and img0026 are city urban. (Yours are nice)

--------------

Here is PeliLand with my FarTiles.bin batched to it.
Northholt, west of London.
Where the Spitfire tail wheel is, is where the Near and Far Tiles, border:

Keep up the good work, Pelican 72. Thanks for the CLIFF, too!

the Dutchman,

You made the first terrain mod for Bob2, as I recall.
I lost the files.
Have you time to do a remake?

Stickman,

Is there a "master list" somewhere of what the various landmap2 image files img0000 to img0031 should be (short description like your critique above)? A short descriptor for any other files that can potentially altered aside from the imgfiles woudl be great as well.

Perhaps something like this would be helpful to modders beginning the process?

Stickman here you are;

http://home.hetnet.nl/~m.messemaker/BoBII/part1.rar
http://home.hetnet.nl/~m.messemaker/BoBII/part2.rar

It's nothing more than an enhancement of the colors of the default terrain and without the fartiles...

Stickman,

I was using Crazy Browser and that was preventing my downloads at Quicksharing.com, once I used Internet Explorer...it worked.

I have Peliland and your batch file. So do I just drop Peliland Landmap2 in the appropriate place...and forget his récapitulatif des textures terrain folder and it's contents?

And then what do I do with your batch file exactly? It is named FarTiles.bin and so is that an exe or something?

I'm not Stickman but this may help....

1) Back-up your original BoB2 'Landmap2' and 'Landscap' (note spelling) folders in case you want to go back to the original files.

2) Copy & paste the files from 'Peliland Landmap2' into your BoB2 'Landmap2' folder selecting 'Replace All Files' when asked. His 'récapitulatif des textures' folder is for modders to play with and you don't need it if you just want to use his tiles.

3) Copy & paste the 'FarTiles.bin' file into your BoB2 'Landscap' folder selecting 'Replace File' when asked.

4) Fly & enjoy!

HTH

Tako Kichi is right except you do not need to make a backup of the ENTIRE Landscap folder as it is pretty large, just the FarTiles.bin file that is within it.

I would however make a copy of the entire Landmap2 folder.

With these backups you can revert back to the "stock" 2.05 terrains anytime.

I have made these backups and now can go back and forth between the Stock 2.05 terrain and these various mods quite easily.

EDIT: Do you mean in the 2.04 Manual? or somewhere in the BoB installation folder?

Back-up your original BoB2 'Landmap2' folder. Backup the FarTiles.bin file inside the Landscap folder.

To install Pelican's terrain, you should open the PELILAND folder in his RAR, and extract the Landmap2 folder to the BoBII root folder.
You do not need the récapitulatif des textures terrain folder and it's contents.
To install The FarTiles, extract the Landscap folder in the RAR to the BoBII root folder.
In both cases, the proper folder pathname is supplied in the RAR's, so the files go to the correct folders.
