One of the conspiracy theories is that the plane was torn apart by blast waves due to some returning bombers jettisoning their unused ordnance into the channel. Miller's plane being at a lower height than the bombers and unnoticed by them.

Don't know why but I always thought he was shot down by enemy fire...
anyway, sounds to me like bad weather was the best explanation although,,,, the German C.T. was appealingly titillating. :wink:
