Hi guys, trying to figure out what I may be doing wrong here.
I keep losing power or manifold pressure about 10-15 minutes into each flight and end up having to make an emergency landing.
All engine instruments are in the green...not sure what I am doing wrong.
Figured I am mistreating the engine but when I return to the hanger it says its in excellent shape. No fouled plugs etc.
Also not out of fuel.
Any suggestions where I may be going wrong here?
Thanks Jason

Check the weather around you: you might need to use the carb heat!

ah, certainly a good thought. Didn't think I would need it flying in summer weather. Hadn't occurred to me

Yeah, hot and humid weather, or any conditions when there's moisture in the air (such as rain) present a risk of carburettor icing in the Comanche. Take a look at this article and the included chart if you get a few moments Jason, it gives a good summary of the phenomenon: Melting Moments: Understanding Carburettor Icing.

Yup sounds like carb heat for sure, if in doubt/questionable conditions turn it on is a good rule in the simulator for it.

And just in case there is any doubt, I've spent hours in the "soup" observing and timing how long it takes for the carb to start icing up. And we have it spot on just like the real airplane

Had it happen last night on an IFR approach. Makes things very exciting until the ice melts.Scott - A2A wrote:And just in case there is any doubt, I've spent hours in the "soup" observing and timing how long it takes for the carb to start icing up. And we have it spot on just like the real airplane
