Landing Speeds for C-182

Post by Chazraz44 »

Having owed and flown a 182, I purchased the A2A version for FSX and am not looking back. I do have a question regarding the landing speeds for the sim. These C-182 speeds are really slow, very similar to the C-172 and my experience with both aircraft is the 182 requires about 10 knots more speed on final than the 172. Also, the 182 drops like a rock compared to the 172. I pretty much flew with an 80 knot landing speed and dropped into the flare and hit the deck at about 50-60 knots, with the stall warning blaring. Unless I'm about 40-45 knots in the 182 sim, there is no stall warning. Just curious what others have experienced.

I fly a 182Q and 182T IRL and the published approach and landing speeds are pretty much identical to a 172. It does fly like a bigger and heavier 172.

On final I fly at 60-65KIAS, maybe 70 if it is very gusty that day. At 80 I would have a heck of a time trying to put it down before running out of runway.

Just to add to Oracle's comments Chazraz, have you downloaded and installed the Accu-Sim update available here? If not, you should definitely do so - it might not change the landing speed but it should add some noticeable refinements to the flight model, including the 'feel' during the flare.

Thanks,
Nick
