Bill,

If you would take a little advice... stay where you are with the cockpit at the moment! There are too many "ifs" with V4. I'm currently working my way through some of them and will know more as testing for a certain aircraft progresses! ;)

regards

Darryl

Just for testing, I have installed the B-17 in my P3D v4. Of course I knew the Accusim extension wouldn't work, so I only installed the base WoP2 B-17.
And the WoP2 B-17 works quite well in fact. The cockpit is clickable, the engines can be started from cold&dark.

The only problem is on the graphic quality side. Until today I only knew and used the Accusim version of the B-17, which still looks superb today for me. I had never seen or used the non-Accusimed B-17... and well, I have to confess I have uninstalled the B-17 from my P3Dv4 right away. Instead, I'll continue enjoying the Accusim B-17 in P3Dv3, waiting for the P3Dv4 version to reach the stores.

But for those who don't want to wait, or those who don't have their FSX/P3Dv3 installed anymore on their computers, and really need a B-17 in P3Dv4, just install the WoP2 version directly in the P3Dv4 main folder, and you'll be good to go. ;)

The WoP3 P-47 without its Accusim extension works well too ! I kept that one, because it looks good (*almost* identical to the Accusimed version)

The more recent warbirds (Spit, Mustang and P-40) don't work though, even the non-Accusim versions. They display well, but nothing works and the plane won't start.

I'm actually holding off on P3Dv4 from my FSX:SE for 2 reasons:
- new pc needed
- ALL my A2A birds will have to be available in v4 native download.

So +100 for porting them!

I have been slowly working at getting P3Dv4 installed and working, and I'm pretty close to being satisfied with my setup.
I find on the same rig it works much better than FSX on many fronts.
That said, I really miss flying the A2A B-17!

Quick question, I'd like to purchase the B-17 but am also thinking of moving towards P3D v4 at some point. So I'd hate to purchase it now and then have to rebuy it down the road. If purchased now for FSX, will there be any type of "upgrade" price for the 64bit P3D v4 version? Otherwise, maybe I'll just wait. I already have to repurchase quite a few add-ons if I move to 64bit, so I'd rather not add to that list.

All the other A2A aircraft have separate licenses for P3D and must be purchased at full price. I'd assume this will be the same.

Me too!

Positives;
P3dv4 no more Oom's!
Smoother flight.
Better weather.
Better graphics.
Devs can put as much detail as they want into the products and not worry about VAS use!
Its the future of LM flight simulations.

Negatives;
No A2A!! :(

Please convert the B17 to 64 bit.

Whilst I am in WW2 mode, please consider a Lancaster for P3dv4.....Please! 8)

Best regards
David

OK.

Just watching a film on Amazon Prime: "Flying the B17 - Then and Now".

Actually has the original training film shown to trainee pilots in the war, with some footage of the few remaining B17s still flying.

Hi Jacques.
Hopes are not dashed , it just puts a bigger delay on the B17 and P47 while A2A update all the present P3Dv4 aircraft upto the latest update , its just one of the draw backs of lockheed constantly improving and up dating the base P3Dv4 sim .
