How does one do that? In all the years I've been simming I don't ever recall not landing without extending the gear.

In the case of B-17II though I've made attempts but soon found out the gear was wasted in the air battle, but with FS9, I have never not landed without saying to myself ... "I'm coming in, I need the gear down!"

Yeah, I forgot to put the gear down... Would have been a beautiful landing too. I had just an inkling something was wrong when it just kept sinking & sinking. Then it settled on the runway with a grinding crash & slid to a stop.

You always read about these kinds of errors in accident reports... Glad it wasn't a real P-47. :D

This kind of accident is not uncommon in real life.

The last thing any realworld pilot does, before exiting the airplane, when landing with the gear up, is to put the gear lever in the "down" position.
