This afternoon I decided to take a couple of FW-190s up for a patrol over Germany:

The second from last really shows how effective the camouflage was, doesn't it?

very good screenies, I think the camoflage would have been very effective with it hiding in the trees on the ground as well. Is that default scenery in the pictures?

Here is a German Fighter i am tinkering with, and it does have some flight problems, most likely acft.,config issues.

The plane is the FW-190V18/U1 Kangaroo.

I am having problems keeping it under control during takeoff, landing and some problems in flight.
I'm wondering if the complete acft.,config could be redone,if so It's way over my head?.

Looking for ideas, unless i could post the acft.,config here, and someone could modify it,including the wing tip nav lites?.

Hi George,

Which Fw190 is that ? It doesn't look like any from the WOP stable. Let us have a location where it can be downloaded and we may be able to investigate further.

Hello alastairmonk

Thanks for the reply.

The plane in question is a freeware not one for WOP.I kind of liked the looks of the acft.

I've had it for a few weeks, but don't remember where i saw it at.I still have both zip files, and one of them is a fix for it.

The base model i did find at www.fsdome.com The Author is Kazunori Ito.

The zip files are as follows:

Fw190v18.zip

focke-wulf_190v-18_Kangaroo_upd.zip

In the mean time i will try to find where i downloaded it from, but the base model is on fsdome.com

I myself really like the German fighters of WWII,but i can't find many freewares that are all in tact including sound and good panels in them.

If you know of any let me know.

THX

George

Hi George,

I found the two files at flightsim.com and installed the plane. As you know, this is a FS2002 plane with an FS2004 update. On take-off as loaded the plane took a long time to build up to airspeed, and was just as slow to accellerate once in the air. Reducing the fuel to 50% helped a little, but it is still extremely unstable to hand fly.

I have no idea whether this is representative of the experimental sub-type (with that huge underslung radiator) but compared to the WOP Fw-190s, even the relative unstable early models) it seems underpowered.

I'll admit to only giving it a very short test flight, but I usually don't have too much problems hand flying this sort of thing, and I'd have to conclude that there is indeed something wrong with the flight model as its far too unstable as it is even at 200+ knots.

The V18 uses the same/similar DB603 engine as the Fw190 Doras and Ta152 which have a real surplus of power in the WOP releases.

If you like this plane that's great, but my Luftwaffe test pilot says it needs further development !

Cheers,

Alastair

Thanks for the reply

I kind of figured there was something wrong with the flight model, and the whole acft/model config, would have to be re-done.Since I'm not a developer i guess i will have to put this one in the bone yard.I only had it a few weeks and only flew it three or four times.

I guess it's back to surfing the web for other better FW-190's,1941 through 1944 years?.Well the V-18 did look good.I wonder how many different models there were in the German Luftwaffe say from 1941 to 1944?,thats what i would be looking for.

Thanks for the info

George

Hi George,

I'm no expert, but the WOP packs seem to cover all the major marks:

Fw190A
Fw190F
Fw190D
Ta152

As you probably realise there were huge numbers of "field packs" applied locally, especially with bolt-on weapons packs, that were given their own sub-variant coding, and the 15 variations covered by WOP give a good coverage.
