After months of flying and few problems, suprise.
I wasn't even expecting it. Everything normal on takeoff roll until near rotation speed. Hedi yells fire!, Engine on fire. Passengers are screaming, my crew are informing me of the situation. Can't abort must continue take off. Aircraft is shaking, Hedi, crew and passengers are stating to panic.
I feathered #3 and shutoff the overhead switches, armed the fire bottle and discharged.
I was turning left on climbout for a 180 back to the runway when the fire was reported out. I remembered the saying, never bank on a dead wing, it will cause you to lose precious altitude.
The aircraft was shaking pretty bad from the engine vibration as we touched down. The passengers on the aircraft cheered and my first officer said, Well done captian!
I know that this is just a flight simulator and not real, but for those few long minutes during the emergency I felt it was real. So real in fact that I put the sim on pause to go get a cup of coffee and calm down. Thanks A2A that was a awsome experience.....

Do you guys remember the video we made to advertise CotS? This sounds like the exact scenario. Glad you got it down safely. It should give a huge boost to your career as well. Congratulations.

Great stuff, its those experiences that we try to create for our flyers. Great to hear you where so immersed in the experience. Ive had similar experiences in the 377 and the whole range of Accu-sim products. For me the most memorable was a '17 flight when an engine had issues during final approch to an unfamiliar airport in South America. true flying by the seat of your pants, and fighting the aircraft whilst trying to remember those checklists and swtiches etc 8)

I guess I had got in the comfort mode, this IFE really woke me up. I'm on the lookout now for other situations that may lie ahead. This engine fire did boost my desire to fly more. Another saying that came to mind then was, when all else fails, fly the aircraft.
We changed #3 engine and are back in business. Now I try to have my coffee just before I fly. lol...

That sounds great. What a good experience. Good recovery.
I look forward to similar experiences with 377&COTS (I think) :)
