All of the sounds etc are tied to the virtual cockpit switches etc. I dont think we really touch the 2d system as our products dont come with this old style cockpit. I'll ask Scott to be sure.
Thanks Lewis! I was afraid that would be the case.
I do understand the reasoning for this though, as probably 99.9% of people would have no use for a 2D cockpit view. It is only of use to hardcore cockpit builders, and the majority of builders do use them. The virtual cockpit just doesn't play nice when you try to have it on 5 screens.
I did however stumble across a solution to my dilemma quite by accident. I had previously made a camera view of the central switch panel in the virtual cockpit with the OpusFSX software that I am using to network my systems, so that if needed I could verify that my physical switches were working.
I usually close that camera before I commence the startup. I happened to leave it open yesterday when I was doing the startup, and lo and behold I had all of the effects sounds in the 2d cockpit window views. I then went one step further, and undocked the camera view, and moved it to my gauge monitor, but left it open.
When I switched to full screen view, the camera view disappeared since it is not on the primary monitor. It must still be open but just not visible because I still had all of the effects sounds in the 2d mode. I took off, and had the roll out sounds, brake squeals, gear up, flaps etc.. the whole nine yards! I did this a few times, and it has worked every time. I also didn't suffer from any noticeable frame rate loss from the invisible open camera
