Warbirds are the hot item now and old airliners are in much less demand. I understand why A2A builds only warbirds and feel very lucky to have their B-377 which is the finest vintage airliner ever made for any sim. I still am perplexed as to the reason for choosing the B-377 over a Connie but I must admit that the old girl has more charm everyday.

I love warbirds but having a warbird in FSX is like kissing your sister, you can do it but why. Classic airliners are right at home in FSX and I still have hopes of seeing another from this talented group some day.

HI Warbirds,

I'm 100% right with you.Warbirds are beautiful , deeps about systems but totally useless in Fsx, no nav possiblities , no combat possibilities...Mouarf ....The B377 and the B17 will stay the only product (Accu-feel and 3Dlights apart)I've bought from them . Warbirds are beautiful , yes ... but this is all....This is their choice....

I kinda have to Agree with that statement, tho the animations look cool nd all that other stuff , War Birds are cool, but totally useless in Flight Simulator FSX, unless you can Dog Fight other A.I. aircraft by the Dozens and that kind of stuff. Even with Captain Sims Weapons bout all you can do is blow stuff up sorta, airports , runways, etc, after awhile that gets old & mundane. I was really hopeing that when I got my Boeing 377 StratoCruiser that A2A was going to be making more vintage Propliners, such as the C46Commando, and some of the Avro's and British Airliners , even the HOWARD 500 propliner, better than the one thats out there now as Freeware. I have the P-51 Mustang from War Bird Sims, and its a mighty fine aircraft to fly, great animations , awsum to look at , but boring after bout' 20 minutes of flying. Same with my Corsair. My propliners on the other hand I could spend hours upon hours flying those Rascals everywhere. Image

I sure agree with you guy's on the Civil Aircraft, but I really would not write these things off just yet. I think the development of the 104 and the F-4 has got them deep in development right now. I really think we are in for some big annoucement's to come.
As for the "what too do with the Warbird's,other than flying them around" I wouldn't even guess on what the plans are there.Knowing A2A it wounldn't surprise me in the least if they come out later with some type of ariel combat with all these aircraft involved. Have all checked into the 91st. Bombardment website, there you can fly the B-17G,P-47,Spitfire,and the P-51,but that all has too be done online though. I am sure there are other's as well I just mentioned that one.
I really believe there are going too be some huge news, after those aircraft mentioned in the first paragragh are finished and up and running. There is some kind of plan with all this. Scott,Lewis,Rob and Cody,Dudley pay close attention too what they write and video's as they get closer to completion of the F-104 and the F-4. They have been known to throw tib bits of info out there, remember COTS,that was a shot in the dark.

My Thought's Anyway

course, you could argue, whats the point of airliners? all you do is fly from manicured airport to manicured airport. As to no nav possiblities you have what they had back then, if they could do it i'm sure you guys can. :)

Yes it's exactly the goal to FSX for a civilian simulator , fly from an airport to an other and enjoy the flight...Well , if you don't see the difference between a fighter and a cruiser I can't do absolutely nothing for you ^^

I want to add this comment , I find warbirds from A2A amazing , beautifuls , immersives and I totally respect their works , I'm just sad to see that finally the B377 is the only civilian liner in the product line...The cub is pretty cool but it's the same problem for navs....

B377 is a "Graal" for those who like vintage liners .Really.

The fact remains that developers will sell more warbirds than old airliners. Look how many Mustangs are available for FSX against how many Connies.

The FSX developer I work for (paint) does mostly civil vintage planes. Most of them are single engine but one airliner is on the upcoming list. These guys do it because they love that type of plane, not because a certain type sells more than another. I am sure we could sell many more warbirds than Wacos or Monocoupes.

As for warbirds I have several sims to fly them in and COD, for all the problems it has, does have the most detailed, beautiful WWII warbirds with increadible cockpits and some system modeling. Also the old but still great IL2 is on my hard drive and gets used often. And for the WWI guys you cannot go wrong with Rise of Flight and the base game is free.

Yes , I'm alright with all you're saying!

But I like to believe A2A is a team who works with passion...PMDG have surprised everybody when the DC-6 annoncement came , how many DC-6 they will sold in comparaison to the NGX?Not so more I think but this is showing there's not only the commercial interest ...And I'd like to believe there's a same kind of passion in A2A team!!!

Yes they have a love of planes that shows in their work and they are the top of the line when it comes to virtual aviation. I just wish that passion would swing back to civil airliners again. A2A's work on the B-377 is incredible and, as a painter, I look for details and mistakes that need to be corrected. There is none, the plane is perfect and the texture artist is the best I have ever seen. The bumpmaps alone are a work of art.

I am more than happy with the B-377 even if it is the only airliner to come out of this talented group. But if the tide turns it would be great to have a Connie.

You know until COTS, you could say that every airplane in FSX is a GA airplane and you are all essentially GA pilots with unlimited flying budgets. There is no 'money' measurment or limiter that prevents you from flying so many hours or affording repairs.

Your NGX is a GA plane really since there is no virtual FAA or CAA to certify you as an airline pilot. There are no regulations governing your operation of it. Your NGX might be in KLM colors but there is nothing stopping you from flying it wherever and whenever you like. I treat my 747F like my personal RV...a real winnebago with wings LOL. Even with COTS you can still fly your virtual passengers and crew to wherever and whenever you wish. There is no set schedule. You might fly for a VA to give yourself some goals or a purpose, but you didn't have to go to college and spend $$$$$ to get an ATP rating.

Likewise with military airplanes, they are all essentially GA planes in FSX, you fly them wherever at your leisure. Now with CS weapons and whenever Tacpak is release you might be able to use the aircraft's weapons, but even with that there is no virtual government to tell you when and where you may use them :)

Your FS world is what you make of it. If you want to call yourself a military pilot or airline pilot, by all means, its your own virtual world.

Cheers
TJ
