On the center console, below and to the right of the throttles are the communication and navigation controls. Two toggle switches are labeled ADF and VOR. Move the toggle on both to VOR. In the section of the center console directly below these controls and to the left and right, are the VOR tuner dials. Its easier to hit "shift 7" to bring up the comm and nav window. Tune you VORs, then look to the instrument panel, pilots side. In the center, below airspeed and the ILS indicator is the RMI. Your VORs are displayed on this intrument if they are detectable from the ground. Your heading is displayed at the top. The single arrow is VOR 1 the double is VOR 2. Put the VOR you wish to fly to at the top, correct for wind as you progress. Use "shift 5" to bring up your moving map and the VORs will be displayed upon that as well. Take a look in the forum for Wothans weather ship gauge to use for TransAtlantic or Pacific flights. If you really want to get into era navigation there is a bubble ????? and drift calculator (?) available from various sites that may, or may not be usable in FSX.

Both the Drift Meter and very nice Bubble ????? work for FSX.

Why the question marks? Do you need additional info?

Cheers,

You are aware of the board auto-censor, are you not? :)

Perhaps he should have used 'Bubble Saxtant" instead :)

Willdart,
The RMI is passive, it indicates the bearing to the VOR relative to the position of your aircraft
To fly to a VOR that you have tuned and is active, you turn toward the needle until it is aligned with the small arrow at the top of the RMI. You are now flying directly to the VOR. As you overfly the VOR, the needle will swing through to the bottom of the RMI. The pointed tip is your "to" and "from" indicator. Using shift 5 brings up a navigation map. The VORs you have tuned, As long as they are active and identified, will show up on the map as a Red or green arrow. The white arrow is your heading and the dashed line is a crosswind correction. That's kind of quick and dirty, and hopefully not completely wrong!

Gypsy, I apologize for trying to flaunt the board sensor- I suspected one existed but I plowed ahead with reckless abandon anyway.

Jahman, thanks for confirming that the sickest ant and drift meter will work in FSX! Im not sure how to create a window for the drift meter...I will read more about it later. How do you like Finn's gauge?

In the driftmeter zip, open the "inst_instr.htm" document to access the installation instructions.

Cheers,
