Last night, there was some kind of get together in one of the restoration hangars at the A2A airbase. Three Mustangs flew in between 3-5pm PST, a catering truck was let through the gate, and some music was heard. It sounded like some of the guys just having fun rather than organized entertainment. Oddly, Bloomfield wasn’t there. Something serious must be happening for Bloomfield to miss a party.

Rob walked off pretty early, about 8:30pm. He stopped and met with Michal (Empeck) for a few min (who looked like he hasn’t left that building in days based on the pizza boxes outside the door). One thing I found interesting was, Michal is working in the building where they test turbojets. Anyway, they seemed to be getting into a, I wouldn’t say heated, but intense discussion about something. Rob was waving his hands all around, Michal was shaking his head, and they were speaking fast and in Polish, so I didn’t understand a thing.

Probably one of the key signs here was Cody’s truck is now parked on the base. Last week, Cody has been taking a lot of video, with what appears to be a new, high end camera. He was following Scott and Bloomfield around one of the Mustangs. Bloomfield was in the cockpit moving some flaps at the bottom of the fuse while Scott was recording the audio. Cody was recording it all. It seemed like they spent over 2 hours measuring this and that.

Anyway, this morning, everything is back to its ‘hush hush’ state, which has been the norm around here for these past few weeks. We did hear that they’re flying Captain Jake in tonight. Bloomfield is not expected back for at least a week. We’ll keep a 24hr watch on.

All those pizzas are long gone, and I start to think those boxes looks tasty too...

What Rob said to Michal (in Polish, translated via BabelFish):

"The Yankee known as 'Shadow' is large Polish Grandmother since years"

Does BabelFish know how to translate AND make sense?

@A2A: Can we get a special 'Peter' emoticon added to our Smilies list?

Anyway, I wonder if the teaser about the jets means that the F-104 or the F-4 is a bit closer than we thought? I've always assumed a 6 month cycle. The P-40, was what, January. So the P-51 in June, and then the 2 jets in the pipleline would be early-to-mid 2013. Maybe they will be sooner? In any case, it is looking to be a good summer for Flight Sim!

As much as I would love for this to be the case I do not think they are coming in the "near" term. I think maybe with the close release of the P-51, and lack of updates they may give us an update on the F-104/F-4 with the P-51 release. Can only hope!

I need to get my P-51 fix this week somehow hopefully.. While we did fly Double Trouble yesterday it unfortunately broke today (electric problems)... So my (what I thought would be) exciting weekend wound up being a bust.

So my take-away from Shadow's update is that Cody is hard at work on the official video, therefore the Mustang has been officially cleared to land! The three Mustangs Shadow saw could mean we have 3 different configurations for our new favorite plane?

Others have said this, and I agree- My money is on a Memorial Day Weekend release (Friday will be just fine with me ;))

Cheers!

Joe

This could be bad. More recording, more measuring, more fiddling with this or that means more code, more rewrites and more testing....

I call this...

I'm hoping that all the extra recording and measuring was just for the release video... IMO the aircraft at the test facility are the newly manufactured A2A Mustangs, not the real life originals.

Fingers crossed :)
