I think he's [edit: Daryll] out of his mescaline mind (see if young Peter figures that one out  ).

This might seem stupid, but I wonder if Froogle has tried hitting 'Q'. And unlike some of the later Accusim aircraft, the 377's engine sounds are pretty conventional, right there in the sound.cfg file. If the default aircraft exhibit engine sounds, so too should the Stratocruiser.

In your SimObjects / Airplanes / WoS_B377 folder, do you have a SOUND folder with a sound.cfg and a bunch of WAV files?

Hey Scott,

No, I dont. I have a single sound.cfg file and a single WOS_B377_gear_down sound sample.

To answer the earlier question :-

Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium edition.
Core i-7 720 overclocked
12 gig of RAM
Dual 6870 video cards.

FSX is running with FSUIPC registered, Accufeel (disabled for this aircraft), EZDok camera. Also, yes all sounds on all other aircraft are just fine, including every other A2A aircraft.

Uh oh...I thought you said you reinstalled?

@pjc747: I was referring to an obscure Helen Reddy song called the "Summer of '71" that contains the line "We're out of our mescaline minds", and I thought Daryll might get the reference, because he is from down under. If you are wondering who Helen Reddy is, she is the Singing Nun in Airport '75 :) :)

I did reinstall. I ran the installer as admin as well. In fact, give me a sec, and I'll reinstall it yet again.......

Boots PC.....
Finds installer....
Right clicks installed and chooses "Run as administrator"
Checks installer is installing into the right directory...
Clicks next and waits.
Yawns as DirectX joins the 15 million other slightly different versions already installed.
Runs FSX.
Selects the aircraft, location, date and time, and clicks Fly Now.
Yawns some more.
"Good Afternoon Captain" etc etc
Starts engines. Heads APU
Sees engine needles move
ZERO engine sound.

Okay, well the good news is, is that they know why you aren't getting any sound. Because you've reported that those files aren't there...an installation problem. They'll get you fixed up soon I'm sure....

BJS,

Yep, got the reference. Not entirely sure Helen would like to be remebered for only the two stated performances. A75 was abysmal. (but then so were "the 70's"..I always say I was born in the 60's and grew up in the 80's :) ) ... oh and I hate to be branded a square..but I stick to the more "traditional" drugs, alcohol and fast women, illicit drugs never did nor never will appeal to me at all.

And....I was more of a Skyhooks and Sherbert kid myself :)

Froogle, that is bad news BUT there is a line in on the problem now. I am sure Scott will be able to track it back!

I was referring t the psychadelic mescaline, an alkaloid, also known as LSD... oops :o

Wow, you make it sound like my pop culture reference to a pleasant sounding 1970's song was some kind of endorsement for psychedelic drug use...Of course not! I don't do that S**t and never have. But we were, afterall, talking about Shamans.....

I'm actually kind of fascinated by the 70's. Hell, I think I might grow an afro, a P0rnstar mustache, and start wearing a wizard's costume! Lindsey Buckingham, circa 1977.

@Froogle, if you absolutely can't wait for the A2A guys to get back to you on this, let me tell you what I would do. Uninstall COTS. Uninstall WOS 377. Then go into your simobjects directory and delete the WOS377 directory if its still there.
Now before you reinstall, I would make sure that Windows UAC (user access control) is off, and anti-virus crap off too. Then I would reinstall WOS 377. Is the sound directory and all it's .wavs there? If so, install COTS. Check that the sound directory is still there. Then install COTS 1.1 version update after that.

If that doesn't fix your problem, then god knows....

Not at all!

Just saying that -I- never "did'. I had many friends who dabbled, some who "used" and a couple who are no longer with us.

The 70's....uuggghhh. We recently had a professional dinner and the theme was " 70's night, put on your afros and platforms"

I think an old aquaintance summed it up best..."only people who didn't live through the 70's would want to go BACK there!"

Having said that though, I didn't do drugs but would happily have done Jaclyn Smith or good old FF...Kate Jackson, not so much... .

They had a television in an Australian bar way back in the '70s that played the Angels? :)

Jaclyn Smith. 'nuff said. Farah, no, she creeped me out for reasons I have yet to work through with my shaman.

(Peter is thinking, "hmm FF, I wonder if he means fuel flow..." (Just kidding man, you take more than your fair share of s**t around these forums and you are a damned good sport about it!. Since logical segues and stream-of-consciousness thinking appear to be my only talent as of late, this one's for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCdTgh2_Lq4.))

We did..we had electric light and running water too!!!

BTW, I didn't start on the "alcohol and fast women" until the mid 70's...I'm a '66 model, after all :D

Darryl

P.S. "The Angels", absent the "Charlie's" , were also a hugely successful band in Oz in the 70s/80s

P.P.S....how times change..."go out and get yourself a Cougar" could probably be misconstrued these days..
