Wow, this is educational for me! When I posted this thread I was thinking people would be posting about John Wayne type characters from classic movies. Instead, I see that many of you are into cartoons! :) :) :)

Speaking of Porco Rosso...here is the Curtiss R3C-0 :) You know Mike, Schneider cup era racers might be fun projects but they probably would only have a small interest from consumers.

There was Schneider Cup addon for FS9, I loved it a lot. FSX with Acceleration would be the perfect sim for Schneider Cup racing, all racing functionality is already there, but it's not that popular. :(

Supermarine S.6 is one of the prettiest planes ever made. It fast even when it's standing still on the ground.

Of course. I love good hand drawn animation. Old Disney's cartoons and movies, Warner Brothers, European cartoons (French are very nice), and Japanese animation - especially fantasy and sf movies/series.

I'm not a fan of Hanna Barbera though.

Well,it is a close call between Col. Charles "Chappy" Sinclair from Iron Eagle series and Ted Striker from the Airplane series.

If you'ge going with Iron Eagle, the nod goes to Doug Masters. Chappy got shot down.

These flying heroes were the stars of many of my comics:

It's hard to top this one :D

They used to have a snoopy addon for Combat Flight Simulator, equipped with two machine guns too. Ah good times :D

my favorites from when I was a kid were Tanguy & Laverdure, a French comic and TV series. The Mirage III has long been my favorite aircraft because of this...

I cannot believe no one has mentioned Cliff Robertson as Wing Cmdr. Roy Grant from 633 Squadron.

Or Robert Redford as The Great Waldo Pepper

Oh I am shedding tears. I need a tissue. I am ROFLing too much. My emotional swings from Han Solo, "Hey, I only look out for one person. That's me"

to Mr Sir Jimmy, "You, you, only built model airplanes?"

to Snoopy, "" (Uhhh, I think Snoopy was to focussed on his prey to make words.)

to 633 Squadron where that one chic was really hot and whoa that was a bad movie with great shots of Mosquitoes.

to Mav, "No one can drive a racecar as fast as me". Oh darn. Wrong movie. "Who's side are you on?" Mr. Iceman was a good pilot too. He did his hair in the tailpipe of an F-14 every morning at 5 am sharp.

to James Garner in the Great Escape, "What, are you blind?"

After so much thought and deliberation I have to go with the great World War 1 ace, Snoopy. A man, errr, pilot of few words whose determination was unequalled.

I see that Captain T.J. Kong has already been mentioned. I never did quite take sides with Frank Towns - being a geek.

If fictional space flight is allowed in this list, then I must also add Colonel Wilma Deering from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century:

A couple of runner-ups for me: George Peppard in The Blue Max!

Also who could forget Franta and Karel in Dark Blue World?

I enjoyed Matthew Modine and Tate Donovan in Memphis Belle, although I think their crew was far more entertaining than they were...

And it may be a stretch, but I LOVED Howlin' Mad Murdoch in The A-Team series when I was growing up!
