Well, after the core update v1.2, I experienced a problem or just a strange behavior of the Mk.IIb
Before the update I haven't flown the MK.IIb for a long time so I decided to take it for a little testflight, after I started the engine, checked the oil, fuel, air pressuere etc., I slowly applied full power for the takeoff when suddently I strange noises were comig from the engine. Seconds after that blue smoke was "shooting" out of the engine and I aborted the takeoff immediantely. After my Spitfire came to a stop and I could shut down the engine and open the canopy, I went to the aircraft hangar and did a "complete overhaul" because I just wanted to fly.I checked everything once more, everything was brand new, fresh oil, air etc.
Then I hit the could & dark button and started the Spitfire a second time up, taxied to the end of the runway and applied takeoff thrust and the same failure (or problem) occured - blue smoke (I guess oil) was coming from the engine. After that I picked the Mk.I and took off, without the latest problem. Is this a bug in accusim or did I do something wrong at the start up procedures of the Mk.II ?

Please list your start up procedure, how much throttle you gave on takeoff run, what fuel, have you set the rpm to high, and have you changed weather settings maybe?

Changed realism lately ?, maybe automixture ? maybe you are triggering something by a keybinding ?


He he, maybe someone clicked on the boost cut-out ?

Well, I'm pretty sure that I did not cut out the boost

I'll update this post with the full procedure list after some tests.

EDIT:

Ok here is the full procedure, that I did during my testflight.

1. I loaded a C&D State.
2. Then I did a complete overhaul to make sure everything is brand new.
3. Filled the oxygen tank via the conrol panel
4. fuel was at half (100 octane)
5. oil - normal
6. Outside temperature was 58°F ~ 14,5°C

Now to the startup:

1. Generator - ON
2. Fuel Selector - both ON
3. Magneto - L/R ON
4. Throtle - 12%
5. Mixture - RICH
6. After some primer strokes (first 3- did not work then 5 did not work and then again 5 and it started up) I started the engine, oild temp was at about 25° and rad. temp. at 45-48°

At this point everything seemed to run smooth and fine, so I set the wheel chocks and told them two guys to hold my tail down to do some full power runup tests.

I slowly applied full power and at about 90% it started to rumble and shake. It sounded like some broken cylinder or like a tractor LOL. But there was no smoke coming from the engine, so I decided to takeoff. During takeoff the noise got louder and blue smoke was coming from the exhaust of the engine - again. I aborted the takeoff and came to a stop on a field.
After shutting down the engine, I went to the maintanance hanger and checked the engine.
Cylinder 2 & 12 was red and all the others were yellow, but had nearly full pressure.

Well I did the same procedures like some months ago where I flew the Mk.IIb without any problems.
The Mk.I flies well. I did not test the MkIIa but I'll check it too.

I hope someone sees the problem and is able to help me.


BTW: I did not change the realism or check the automixture box, everything is set like in the manual.

With the new Accusim update check on your control panel that the coolant and oil is filled up. The new update set these values to zero from when you first use the aircraft.
So you have to fill the oil and coolant before you set off the first time.

I did the same thing, so hopefully that is your problem solved.

Oh boy, I was stupid enough to overlook that the boost cut-off was ON !
I am pretty sure that before the new core update if you hit the C&D button on the control panel, the boost cut-off was turned off. I never used the boost cut-off and that's why I overlooked it, thinking it was off.

Well, nevermind, everything works fine now after the update.

BTW: I guess, I should stop flying Airbuses all the time LOL with all that automated systems that tell you what is wrong and how to solve it

haha, yeah. As I said, I never used the cut-off.

BTW: What is the boost cut-off actually for ?

It lets you overboost the engine, from the max of +9 lbs to +12 lbs, one can say, that it is an emergency power, not to be used on petty squabbles, if you want to take off with it, be prepared for shaking, and check the rpm
