Well after trying to play around in the northwest territory at Yellowknife, I ruined all 4 5x due to the cold. So after all the load ups then having to unload in career mode since I simple couldn't get the last engine started, I moved south. The cold and the stratocruiser really hates the extreme cold. Startup attempts at temps of -15c and below. So after flying from hurlbert fl to Santa Maria Azores non-stop and having 30% fuel left I thought I was doing good. But for real I had a tailwind the whole way topping 45kts which really helped me out. So since my route flew me right over Barbados I figured that would need to be a fuel stop on my way due to the headwinds. So the return trip started out as an experiment to find a sweet spot for range management. So I found a true sweet spot. (I think). Heres my findings. The trip is aprox 3105nm. I figured a 35kt headwind and planned a gs of 260. That's 12 hours non-stop in the air. I planned flying high and wanted to get as high as possibly would allow. I planned 29k. But I was able to get to 31k with density of 31200 starting out which went down to 30540. At 31k I leveled out and knew I needed best pph for speed. I needed range and endurance. So I fiddled with different mp and rpm mixs. Here's what I have now.

36people on board with 1100lbs cargo
31k
184kt ind .54mach. 275kt gs
25kt headwind average.
37"mp
2075rpm
137psi
715pph
Here's the key
Manual mixture. .58 fuel/air mixture.
Est range 3975nm.

Now tell me experts. Is the good or average?
Remember this is going westbound.

So, this was the "return leg" from Santa Maria Azores ---->> Hurlbert Field Florida. I'm impressed!
The old jet stream was only blowing in your face @ 25 kts avg.at FL 310. It must have been a calm day. I usually climb to FL 250 and almost always with a full load. I got to have someone pay for all of that fuel and wear & tear. I usually run lean at 0.66. If I had 36 souls on board, I guess I could get her up to FL 310. Do you remember what your T.O. weight was...140,000 to 148,000 lbs. Dang, I can't remember the M.T.O.W. for the ol' girl!

I may try this soon after I put in more time with the ol' P-40 and time in the Spit to see what the Accusim Core update v.1.2 has improved, as if the Spit needed any improvement!

Once I hit Barbados it must have gotten word of the lite winds cause the jet stream brought me to a hover. 97knts on the nose. My mgtw if I remember was 146k. Below max. So after fighting the winds I landed with 9% fuel and 36% oil. Aprox 1000lbs +-50 in each tank.
The stats from captain log.
12h 43min
3504 ground 3725sm
Fuel $1760
Main $1376
Cost per mile $0.84

It was an interesting flight.
