I bought the Silver Wings Stratocruiser for myself as a Christmas present. Great airplane. Got a couple of questions.
1. Will the A/C automaticaly fly an ILS beam or must you fly the beam manualy?
2. It is difficult for me to set my NAV radios. I find the grab and drag method akward. Any tips?

1) It doesn't follow a beam, you'll have to do it manually
2) Use the 2D popup for Nav Radios. The Navigator would be tuning these things anyway, and it is a pain to have to jump back to the Navigator's station.

If you tune the NAV radio to the ILS, switch on the autopilot and then press Ctrl-a to switch on approach mode, you can 'cheat' and get the Stratocruiser to follow the glide slope. Because of the relatively poor turning performance of the Strat, you can sometimes lose the ILS lock. It's therefore easier if you get setup on the glideslope and lined-up with the runway first.

Make sure the navigation radios are switched to NAV and not GPS. Ctrl-u toggles between the two on my system although I'm not 100% sure whether that is the default setting.

FYI you can also follow a GPS course if you switch the nav radios to GPS and then press Ctrl-n to follow the GPS course. I justify this to myself by saying that the navigator would do the hard work in the real world 8)

Who Cares. If the guy wants to fly like that he can, and power to him. That's the fun of FS.

I agree.
I fly both ways not unlike the real world, Airline pilots are required to do manual landings on every third landing or so to keep fresh but use the AP to land more often than manually.
I am not flying in 1949 airspace but 2012 airspace.
I collect show cars from the 50's but I can assure you that they don't have new original bias tires installed in order to keep these cars 100% original.
Bias tires were the worst, least safe tires ever made, as I actually drive these cars my safety
is important.
Not unlike the B-377, I as the Captain will use every single tool I have at my disposal to insure my aircraft and its passengers have the safest flight possible.
If that means flying the beam using my Nav/loc Ctrl A approach mode through a snow storm with a very low ceiling then so be it.
Fun is for the weekends flying a cub by yourself.
Just sayin
