Sorry but when I try to run the game (BoB) I get a request to install a video codec from Indio... "can't parse Spiitfire", etc. I hope this is contained in the patch, which I cannot find, although tech support said it was in the forums. Help anyone?

Are you running BoB or Bob11 WOV?.All the installers i thought were in the d/l process and you were asked if you wanted to install them.

Thanks guys, but I downloaded and installed the update... which I suppose is also the patch. I chose not to download the second offering which requires the 256 MB card... but after installing the update I still get a request to install an Indio video codec, plus I get a message "Can't parse Spitfire", and then a "send / don't send" crash.

I'm on a PC with dual core Xeon 2.8 processors with 2 gigs of RAM, an nvidea 5600 FX card with 125MB, etc.

What am I missing here?

I don't know if I'm running Bob or Bob 11? I Just bought the game, downloaded the update, installed everything, and can't get it to play.

I assume you have BOBII. Did you purchase from A2A as a download? NOTE: The 2.11 update (or any update will not work with a BOBI base game).

Your PC will struggle with BOBII as your video card is the bottleneck.

I suggest you down load an old patch 2.09 which should be avaiable on the same site that you got the 2.11.

Do not load the multiskin update as your PC can not run it.

Look at this link for some tips on performance tuning BOBII on a lower end PC here:

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=10091

What OS do you run?

Please confirm that you implemented the following:

1.You implemented Note 6:

Note6: Windows Vista and Window 7 users. All Vista and Windows 7 users will need to apply the 'Vista/Windows 7 fix' to your desktop shortcut as a fresh 2.11 install will overwrite the previous shortcut.
Right click on shortcut and go to properties. Go to the compatibility tab. Check "disable desktop composition" and check the privilege level, run this program as an administrator.

2. You undated your DirectX using the link I provided here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

3. You implemented the wide screen montor fix from the link I provided here:

What is your virus software?

Did you have any problems or error messages during your install?

Notices about indeo codecs tend to appear from Vista, and W7, as they try
(and fail) to render the videos in the introduction and menu screens. On my
W7 64 with an ATI card, however, the videos fail but without any complaint.
There are ways to make the videos appear, mainly by replacing them with
versions converted to another form, as Vista and W7 dropped "native" support
for the video format used in the original 2000 release. The videos live in the
AVI folder. Most people don't particularly miss them, except for the rarely seen
few that herald achievements in the campaign - the ones in the menus get
pretty old in a hurry, and there is a GUI switch to turn them off, and a lot
of users would set this to off after about the 25th time they entered the
menus. If you are getting complaint messages about codecs inside the game,
selecting the videos off switch in the GUI should silence that.

The Indeo codec required is now available here as "Ligos 5.11":
http://www.free-codecs.com/indeo_codec_download.htm but installing
it still may not get the videos to show up ingame on W7 (it doesn't on mine,
with the ATI card); it does however allow a stand alone viewer to run the
videos, and I don't know why this is.

At any rate, most users generally don't bother about videos, other than
viewing them outside the game with a viewer program, but as I say some
have used a video manipulation program to generate copies in a compatible
video format which Vista/W7 does render. I don't know any of the details
of how this is done. You can read about it here:
http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtop ... 17&t=20988
It appears that some ATI cards will still fail to render the videos even in
fully compatible form, in Vista and W7.
