Hi - finally invested in a USB headset, mainly for online flying. I set up fsx so that my primary speakers handle sound and things are working well except with the Spitfire. The A2A cub and B17, as well as Realair sounds are coming out of my speakers as set up but the Spitfire sounds only come out of the headset. Not sure why as fsx does indicate when the spit is loaded that the speakers are the primary. Anyone else have this problem? Has me baffled.... Thanks for the help

Mike

Finally figured it out!

I just right clicked on the speakers icon in control panel and set the primary speakers as "default" and all is now well :D

Hi Mike, can you tell me please what OS you are using? I was trying the same yesterday, but in my case it's the Dodo engines coming through the headphones. Most planes work fine, but the Dodo is the first I tried that didn't. I put it down to the developers using "voice" channels for certain sounds, and thought no more about it.

Now you say you did something with the speaker icon? I was wondering if that was a Windows 7 thing, or if it would work in XP. I am trying to get voice only through the USB headphones, and all other sounds through my 7.1 surround system.

Thanks for any insight.

Hi Tony - I'm on Windows 7 64 bit.

Go to the speaker icon on the bottom right, right click it and press "playback devices". Then go to your primary speakers from the list, right click it and set it as default. I was thinking the same as you until I finally figured it out. To listen to the headphones only, right click the headphones and set it as default. Let me know how you make out. Good luck!

Mike

Edit: Just noticed you are on XP - not sure but assume similar procedure.

No, on XP it's different, that's why I asked. Windows 7 does some really nice things with audio setup that the old XP doesn't. I'll try find a work around now I know what I'm looking for. I DID manage to get the Dodo engines coming out the speakers, AND the voice coming through the headphones yesterday, but the mic stopped working. Will check the mic settings today to make sure I didn't miss something.

I'm hopeful though :) So thanks for your help :)
