Hi,

The Cub is one of my favourite addons. However I'm stumped why I alway get a Simconnect error after loading the aircraft. I have searched the forum, but haven't been able to find a solution yet. I run FSX Acceleration, system specs are in my signature. Any ideas anyone?

Check this troubleshooting FAQ in the tech support forum:
viewtopic.php?f=65&t=19370

The very last item is about simconnect errors in FSX.

Scott.

Thanks for the link Scott. I do have gauges in the default C172. Does this mean my Simconnect is working? And I'm reluctant to do the repair suggested in the FAQ because I have a lot of addon planes and scenery installed. I'm afraid that uninstalling Acceleration, doing an FSX repair and reinstalling Acceleration may damage one of these addons...
If that's the case I'm afraid I'll have to do a complete reinstall of FSX, Acceleration and all addons. I'm not very keen on that...

Rimshot,

A small percentage of FSX installations have a corrupt or not fully functioning version of simconnect working in FSX. Most FSX addons do not use simconnect so these machines are able to run these addons, but when they use an addon like an accusim aircraft that uses these deep features, this error surfaces. Virtually all of these errors have been corrected with a simple uninstall and re-install of SP2 or acceleration using that section of our troubleshooting FAQ. This process was actually posted on another developers forum, as they ran into the same issue. Fortunately, it's fixable.

We created a built in utility that tests that simconnect is working, and it generates an error message if any failures are found.

Are you seeing any issues with the piper, or is this simply this error message you are seeing?

Scott.

The Cub seems to be working fine. I only get the error, which stays there unless I select another aircraft. On one occasion switching back to the A2A Cub after that did not generate the error :? and on another occasion selecting the Cub in the FSX Preflight menu before loading the flight didn't generate the error as well. Most of the time the error is there, not all of the times, which makes it even more confusing.
I'll check with the companies whose sceneries I have installed if I can safely do a FSX/Acceleration repair to fix Simconnect. Thanks for the help.

Hi,

Because I had some free time on my hand I decided to do a full reinstall of FSX and my addons, so I uninstalled everything. After that I went into the Winsxs folder to delete the Simconnect entries, which only worked after taking ownership of the folders and giving my account full control. Then I began installing FSX. I ran the sim once, activated it and shut it down. Next I installed FSX Acceleration. I ran the sim once more to activate Acceleration and closed the sim. Then I installed the Cub, Accusim, update 1.1 and the hotfix.
So all's well now, I thought and fired up FSX with the default flight. I only changed the airport to be able to start on the ground. But to my utter surprise I still got the Simconnect error after changing aircraft to the Cub  :? I'd surely appreciate some more advice on getting rid of this error.

make sure you are running as administrator + top level. In order to run as top, Right click .exe and select run as administrator.

Do you mean running the setup files as administrator, or FSX once installed? And does it make a difference that my user account has admin rights already?

Edit; I just tried to run FSX as administrator, but I still get the error.

Ideally the installer for fsx and the addons + the .exe to run the program once installed wants to be run as admin

Thanks Lewis, but I can't seem to get rid of the error. As the Cub seems to be working fine I'll just rightclick the error to close the window.

bloody annoying though. I wonder if it could be a security program on your computer taking issue with something? Its certainly a strange one.
